Summer or winter? One week or two? Bring the kids or make it a long-overdue romantic getaway? Some decisions are difficult to make, but the good news is that once you’ve decided on Stowe and the vibrant landscape that surrounds it as your next vacation destination, all will be well.

For fantasy’s sake let’s say this is a cozy escape with your favorite person, meant to be a time for reconnecting and having a little fun. Instead of the usual distractions (phone calls, emails, meetings…) you’ll be distracted together by majestic snow covered mountains, happy people whizzing past on skis and snowboards and a cozy town just waiting to be explored. Switch gears and imagine that it’s summertime. Stowe is probably better known for its snow season, but the mild and peaceful warm weather months aren’t too shabby. The Gondola Skyride, Alpine Slide, Bungee Trampoline and an Obstacle Course make this an ideal place to take the kids. (Childcare is available, too, so maybe you can accomplish the impossible and squeeze a little romance into a family trip).

Golf, tennis, hiking and biking are viable options in the spring and fall, as well. Viewing the autumn foliage can’t be beat if you’re looking to slow things down and appreciate nature, especially from the point of view of your very own condo or house. Find one with your favorite features; swimming pools, extravagant patios and wood-burning fireplaces are par for the course, and crowd-pleasing extras like game rooms and entertainment centers won’t hurt either.

The bottom line is that no matter who you bring, what you’re looking for or how the details end up falling into place, you’ll be a happy traveler in the mountains of Vermont.
