This luxury Riad is in the old walled town of Taroudant, just south of the High Atlas mountain range, north of the Anti Atlas mountain range. 30 minutes drive north or south gets you right into the mountains where trecking is unbeatable. This is where the Argan trees grow, and goats climb the trees to reach the nutritious argan nuts. Argan oil is a luxury product of the area - fabulous for skin, and delicious on salads and in tagines. Taroudant is an hour inland from Agadir where the endless stretches of white sands along the coast are heavenly. The surfing along that Atlantic coast is excellent and surfers come from all over the world to surf there. And horse & camel riding on the beaches is popular. Agadir is well known too for its good golf courses. Taroudant has been known as the 'mini-Marrakech' with its two lively souks: the Berber Souk and the Arab Souk. You can find anything you want there, and cheaper than Marrakech!

Further Details for the villa in Morocco, Africa
Staff The house is fully staffed - the garden boy comes in every day and looks after the pool and the plants and terraces. He'll run errands for you too, and take you round the Souks. He'll suggest places to visit and arrange restaurant bookings etc. He speaks good French and some English. And the two girls who look after the house and do all the cooking and housework will do your laundry for you too. And they'll prepare lunch and/or dinner when asked, for an additional charge. They'll keep the fridge filled with anything you ask for. Wine and alcohol can be provided too - it's not easy to get in the local shops, being a Muslim country, but the staff will arrange to buy it in. And the house manager will visit the house every day just to check everything is going smoothly and answer any questions and help with advice on anything local.
The Souks The two Taroudant Souks are fabulous - but best to go with someone from the house who can show you round and advise. You will find everything Moroccan there, including ceramics, leather, antiques, fabrics, shoes, jewellery - and much much more. And masses of it all! And the tannery just outside the town walls is fascinating, and a good place to see the leather process from animal to handbag, and buy for great prices.
The Mountains Trekking in the mountains is one of the most popular local activities for visitors - but take a guide. It's lovely to go up for a night or two into the mountains, sleep in the local Berber homes and be fed on delicious local food - and walk and walk with the most sensational vistas all around you. And the goats climbing trees .....
