1st Arrondissement Louvre apartment Rental Property Information

In the true centre of Paris (Paris 1 is the central area- the bigger the number the farther away from the centre you are!). A fully renovated apartment, sleeps 4 (2 adults, 2 children) in a traditional building. Restaurants/shops in the same little traditional street. Only a 5 minutes stroll to the Louvre and the Seine. For those of you who want a calm romantic break in the very heart of Paris the flat is not facing a main street so no traffic noise to disturb you - peaceful yet no need to use public transport to dine or shop. Classic french charm in the street, croissants and café in the local bars, baguettes from the local boulangerie in the street - everything close to hand for those moments when you don't want to wander too far. Only 2 minutes walk from a shopping centre and a charming little park. Large double bed, two single sofa beds in the living room, immaculate kitchen - all you need for a romantic yet calm Paris holiday. Cable television/internet connection.

A few questions we've been asked Does the apartment have a view over Paris? No, the two large traditional windows look over a little courtyard covered with security glass. On the other hand you will not be troubled with traffic or general street noise - an enormous benefit in a city centre! Is the area 'typically touristic'? The street is a mix of Parisian flat owners who live and work there, mixed in with a fair amount of tourists who rent out various flats. You'll see Paris 'in the raw' on the street, that is to say you'll see the locals - they will speak French and maybe sound a little loud on occasion, that's the French way, but it can be a bit daunting to start with. Is the apartment building pretty? It is a traditional building, the paintwork and lighting in the entrance is in my opinion in need of improvement! However, these things are paid for by all the tenants by mutual agreement, sometimes not an easy procedure bearing in mind the costs of property and consequent flat prices in Paris. We're trying!

A few more questions Is renting a private apartment the same as staying in a hotel? Thankfully not, you eat what you want, when you want. On the other hand there is no daily maid service - you do your own cleaning up. Is there a cleaning service payable on departure? Normally renters leave the apartment in the good clean order that they find it, in which case there is no charge. If you wish to pay for a cleaning service on your departure then that can normally be arranged (excluding dishwashing). Are basic things like shower gel, tea, coffee included? No, but there's a shop for the little urgent items just across the street! Is the flat 'safe'? Keypad entry to the courtyard, key to enter the main building, lockable apartment door and guardian there in the apartment below most of the time - so I'd say yes!

About the owner: Monique is French, lives in Brittany (west France) and frequently is in Paris. She is aided with language difficulties by Nicolas, who is Englsh but also lives in Brittany. She bought the apartment due to its location and owns only one holiday apartment in Paris. The apartment is used exclusively for short/medium term guests, giving you the benefit of a private owner but a structured and (we hope) efficient yet personal service. You will be welcomed by the guardian of the building and we are available by phone of course!
