La-Bastide-d'Engras house Rental Property Information

This wonderful south facing house situated in the tiny village of La Bastide D'Engras has a beautiful view over the valley. It is secluded within its own courtyard with the swimming pool a few steps from the living area. The village itself is dominated by a medieval chateau. It is basically a farming community with a post office and a mairie and a bread van that comes through every morning. There is a small food market every Tuesday morning. Less than 2 km. away is St. Laurent La Vernede which has a bakery and a small general store. St. Quentin la Poterie, famous for its community of potters also has a butcher, a supermarket and many bakeries. There are several excellent and reasonable restaurants in the area. Tennis and golf are easily available and there are breathtaking walks through the pine forests, vineyards and lavender and sunflower fields.

The house is 12 km. north of Uzes, a charming medieval town with a Cathedral, a Lombardic tower and a Duchy, open for visits. Its Saturday market is famous and there are many restaurants nestling under the arches. During the summer, Uzes has two festivals of dance and music. The famous Pont du Gard is twenty minutes away and the historic towns of Avignon, Nimes, Montpellier and Arles are all less than an hour's drive. There are wonderful beaches to be found in the Camargue National Park and white water canoeing in the Gorge D'Ardeche for the more adventurous. The Opera festival in Orange and the Theatre festival in Avignon, are renowned. This is all enhanced by the Cote du Rhone wines which are some of the most delicious and best value wines in France. The caves are always ready to welcome you to taste, and there is none of the starchy formality that one finds in Bordeaux!

  • All the bathrooms were renovated a couple of years ago and guests find them very comfortable and user friendly. There is a double sink in one of the bathrooms on the first floor and in the one on the ground floor.

Notes:

The accomodation is very spacious and comfortable. There is an attractive mezzanine with a desk and audio equipment. The house is not suitable for children under six as the pool is close to the living area. The pool is 9 meters by 4 meters and is completely private. The sun shines on it from 8.00a.m to 8.00.p.m. Swimming towels are not provided. There is a lovely covered terrace through the double doors in the living room where one can eat very comfortably at the large table. You can play boules in the courtyard. Electricity is included in June, July and August.

Golf Information: There is a very pretty golf course near Uzes - very relaxed with the possibility of renting clubs. There is a lady's and men's set of clubs in the house

Tennis There is a tennis court in the next village which our guests are entitled to use. There are tennis racquets in the house

Cycling You can rent bicycles in the nearby village of St. Quentin la Poterie
