Details for PINOT NOIR 1 of 6 apartments in Burgundy, France

This single floor apartment is located in the former granary of the main house with a secluded spacious terrace overlooking the gardens, swimming pool and open countryside. The large open-plan kitchen/dining area is beautifully furnished and connects to the terrace. There is a wood/coal-burning stove in the cosy, comfortable living room. Together with the music system there are lots of books, magazines and tourist information. The bathroom had an antique-tiled floor with a bath, separate shower, washbasin and w.c. The lovely large bedroom has lots of clothes hanging space and full-length mirror.

SPORTING ACTIVITIES TENNIS - private tennis court nearby free of charge for guests to use. GOLF - three excellent golf courses nearby - LE CREUSOT, 18 hole championship standard - CHALON 18 hole, AUTUN, 9 hole. Lots of paths have been created along the canal and former railway lines for keen CYCLISTS, ROLLER BLADERS and WALKERS. En La Marre has details of other cycling and walking routes among the vineyards and hills. WATERSPORTS (sailing school , pedalo, boat, windsurf boards and mountain bike rental) are available on the lake at AUTUN by the golf range; TORCY (Le Creusot) has windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking and rowing, and the LAC DES SETTONS (Morvan Nat. Park) has all watersports, also swimming with beach facilities. FISHING is very popular and available in the many lakes, rivers and canals. Permits are required and weekly ones can be bought in the 'tabacs'. There are two equestrian centres nearby for HORSERIDERS and for a special occasion, BALLOONING over the vineyards is available in Beaune.

CULTURAL ACTIVITIES For Culture vultures Burgundy has much to offer, apart from its roman history. AUTUN, CHALON-SUR-SAONE, BEAUNE and DIJON all have theatres and cinemas and many cultural events take place all season. There are numerous art and sculpture exhibitions throughout the region, especially in TOURNUS, CLUNY, BEAUNE and DIJON. For MUSIC lovers there is a wide range of events taking place to suit all tastes, from jazz and blues to folk and classical and the summer months are busy with musical concerts in the surrounding towns and villages. WINE AND FOOD Burgundy is the gastronomic centre of France and many wine and food-related events take place throughout the region all year. An example of main events: May- SAULIEU: 'Journees Gourmandes' - tasting of local produce and wine; July - COTE CHALONNAISE: open door at private wine growers and co-operatives for tastings of local wines and cheeses; August - 'LA RONDE COUCHOISE' : weekend of open door at cellars in the Couchois, tasting local wines and produce; August - NOLAY: 'Du Cep en Verre': weekend festival of wine and folk music; August - SAULIEU: Charolais Festival - lots of charolais meat and other local produce to sample; Plus many more, especially in October after the grape harvest.
