VERONA IT'S A MUST: Verona, the largest city in the region after Venice. With a rich Roman and Etruscan past, feudal families dominated Verona. In 1263 the Scaligeri family began their 124-year rule of Verona. In 1387 Verona fell to the Visconti of Milan, and a succession of outsiders—Venice (Venezia), France, and Austria—then ruled the city until the Veneto was united with Italy in 1866. Verona is a vibrant trading center and one of the most prosperous in northern Italy. Its ancient center boasts many magnificent Roman ruins, second only to those of Rome itself, and fine palazzo built of rosso di Verona, the local pink-tinged limestone, by the city’s medieval rules. As a setting for Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Verona is still a magnet for lovers. Aesthetically pleasing, swathed in pale pink stone curling along the banks of the River Adige, streets paved with marble and lined with discreet restaurants and designer shops.

Further Details for the villa in Italy
HISTORY OF VILLA SERENELLA Planned and built in the 16th Century by architect Andrea Palladio and originally named Villa Acquistapace, the Villa's illustrious former owners include the Floriani family, who left their testament on a beautiful acquaforte dated 1744, that depicts the Villa with the description 'view of the Floriani brothers' Palace in S.Pietro in Cariano in Valpolicella'. On the death of Pietro Floriani Sbatacchia in 1871, the Villa was inherited by Francesco Ferrari and remained in the Ferrari family throughout the 19th Century. Today the Villa is known as La Serenella and has its main entrance in S.Guiseppe Square.
ACCESS TO THE VILLA You access the villa through the main entrance with a magnificent gate, that resembles those in The Arche Scaligere in Verona; on the left you can spot the little villetta of the guardian in liberty style, and on the right the chapel entitled to S.Giuseppe, the shovel on the altar inside the chaple represents a sacred family with S.Francesco d'Assisi. The beautiful internal sealing was all painted, probably in the 18th century, with four scenes of angelic concerts. You get to the palace walking through an amazing pathway surrounded by ancient trees and by an italian traditional garden, signed by many classic statues. The main facade on the meridian side of the villa is carved by four plain columns, and with a marmoreum family blazon, and another one is painted on the posterior facade. In the loggia you can find several sculptures, showing figures of different ages, and carved in the front two marbles of fiammingo taste, showing friuts and game.
INSIDE THE VILLA All around the villa you can enjoy an amazing country side where you can taste the following fruits; grapes, cherries and plums. On the ground floor you will find an entrance hall with a Venere Canoviano type, a kitchen with marble fireplace and a living-room with pompeiano ceiling, a dining room with a monumental fireplace and a pool table. On the first floor there is a big saloon, with three double bedrooms and two single bedrooms and four bathrooms, the sealing of the bedrooms are all painted. On the second floor you will find two double bedrooms one single room and two bathrooms.
Skiing Information: PALLADIO 2008 !! Five Hundred Years Later - 01 September 2007: Five hundred years are an important turning point, especially if they fall on the last quarter of the second millennium, which showed that acceleration of history in which trends and fashions followed one another at increasing speed. To be still en vogue, or better, highly acclaimed, is an achievement only few have reached. Within the restricted elite of intellectuals, Palladio is the only architect: think of the post modern revival, but think most of all of the attention his works arouses in every new generation of designers. And his artistic conception reveals new aspects every time; the latest of which, in this time of environmental problems, the relationship between man and nature, between architecture and territory, thus mixing in modern terms the Renaissance concept of the useful and the pleasant. Villa LA SERENELLA is an ideal location to start your tours to visit the Palladian Villas in the near Vicenza.
