Massa Carrara apartment Rental Property Information

Our traditional Italian home is set in the foothills of the Apennines, surrounded by chestnut forests and olive groves. There are breathtaking views from the house and garden, and wonderful walks in the surrounding countryside. The house is divided into two quite independent self-catering apartments, with a total of three bedrooms and two bathrooms, each with shower, bidet and washing machine. There are two sitting/dining rooms, and each kitchen has a cooker, fridge, dishwasher and microwave. The living rooms open onto terraces with furniture for outdoor dining, with steps to an enclosed garden. There are gas fired boilers for hot water and central heating, controlled by our guests. You enter the upstairs apartment from a large sunny terrace, with garden furniture and wonderful views. The entrance hall leads to a living/dining room with a separate kitchen, a double bedroom and a bathroom. The apartment is fully furnished and equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. There is full central heating, independent from the lower apartment. The new boiler is in the kitchen, and the water and heating temperature can be easily controlled by guests. The living room has two easy chairs, a dresser and a corner dining suite as well as views to the mountains. The kitchen also opens on to the terrace. It is equipped with an electric oven and gas hob, dishwasher and large fridge. The fully tiled bathroom has a shower, washbasin, WC and bidet and also houses the washing machine. Steps lead down from the terrace to the enclosed, grassed garden.

Getting around This is the perfect location from which to explore the delights of Italy. Pisa, Lucca, Florence, Parma and the Ligurian coast are within easy reach for a day trip by car or train, whilst nearer to home sunlit hilltop villages offer the less grand but no less enjoyable delights of country cooking and home-made wine. The local railway station (with plenty of free parking) offers an excellent service to Lucca and beyond, or to the five ports of the 'Cinque Terre', the coast and Genoa. The mountains with their ski slopes can be accessed in less than an hour.

The village Our house in the hamlet of Castagnola is within a short walk (5 minutes) of the small village of Vigneta, where there is a general store selling the basic necessities, a bar, and a tennis court which can be hired. Our cleaning lady and her husband live in the village, and are on hand at any time. The larger medieval village of Casola is a mile away, and boasts a bank and a weekly market. This unspoilt area is studded with excellent restaurants, while village festivals are a common feature throughout the year.

The house The house itself is in traditional Italian style in two separate parts, one atop the other. The lower half is customarily used as winter quarters whist the light and airy upper apartment is used for summer living. This apartment, which has been beautifully renovated by its previous Italian owners, is now available to visitors. The washing machine, dishwasher and easy to operate central heating system make this an ideal house for relaxing in ease and comfort. The apartment opens onto a large private terrace with furniture for outdoor dining, with steps down to an enclosed private garden. There are breathtaking views from the house and garden, and wonderful walks in the surrounding countryside.
