Further Details for the villa in Italy
Pian di Castagna Set amongst the deciduous forests and blue mountains of the Sibillini, Pian di Castagna is a tranquil oasis for seekers of relaxing holidays. The house is 500 metres above sea level, and this altitude provides a stunning 180-degree view across the fields, forests and mountains. The land surrounding the house has an abundance of plants and flowers. The National Park is home to a large variety of birds and other wildlife including the delightful black squirrels. In May, visitors can wander along our lane and pick the wild asparagus growing in the verges. Later on in the season, look out for chicory and fennel leaves growing wild in our field. From July, guests will be able to breakfast on fresh figs from our fig trees. Late September/early October is the time when walnuts begin to fall from our trees, and guests will be able to eat them freshly gathered. The house itself is set within 5 acres, the huge field in front of the house leads down to a stream with a small waterfall.
Pian di Castagna In June, the fireflies provide a spectacular light show every night around the property and in the lane. Our younger guests delight in watching the fireflies dance around them; the adults are fascinated too! There are very few artificial lights in the vicinity and the night sky provides a stunning display all year. We enjoy watching the night sky in the hope of seeing shooting stars; an exercise made even more enjoyable when accompanied by a glass or two of delicious Italian wine. Internally, we have tried to make the house as comfortable as possible with Italian leather furniture and oriental rugs: Afghans, Chinese, Persian & Turkish. The downstairs floors are tiled throughout, and the upstairs floors are predominantly the original farmhouse brick in soft yellows and pinks. Apart from the Salon, all rooms have beamed ceilings and exposed beams above the windows. The Salon has a very special ceiling, called a barrel ceiling, comprised of small brick arches.
The Good Life Pian di Castagna is an excellent base for exploring with historical towns to visit and places to explore. Discover the superb fish restaurants lining the Adriatic coast. Indulge in a cappuccino in the marble piazza at Ascoli Piceno. Take a breathtaking drive through the mountains and stop for delicious ice cream on the way home. Visit the Cantina at Serrapetrona to taste Serrarosa wine- pink and fruity, perfect for the poolside. Shop 'til you drop at outlets and leather markets. Alternatively, stay at home, cook up a barbecue and watch the mountains change colour as the sun sets. Mrs Warkala said, 'The house was absolutely beautiful & the scenery magnificent' Mrs Hamilton said, 'The perfect location! We loved the view and the peace'. Mrs Grote said, 'We had a wonderful stay at this lovely house. We loved the view of the mountains'. Whatever you decide to do with your holiday at Pian di Castagna, we hope you will absorb the spirit of Italy and the wonderful Dolce Vita
Other Activities open-air concerts, festivals, wine tasting, restaurants, churches, opera, art, thermal springs, antiquities.
