The bastide village of Montcabrier is about 5km away by road, less by woodland path. Shops, supermarkets and weekly produce markets are at Puy l'Evêque (5km) and Prayssac (8km). The Lot has varied countryside with charming villages and hidden treasures, frescoed churches, natural springs and old washing stones, dinosaur footprints, small museums and local craftsmen. Visit Cahors, our nearest main town, with the Pont Valentre and old quarters; Les Arques and the Zadkine museum; or the châteaux of Biron and Bonaguil, imposing hilltop castles; Monflanquin, Monpazier and other bastides with arcaded squares (in neighbouring Lot-et-Garonne & Dordogne). In July and August several villages organise evening markets with regional specialities to eat there in lively ambience at communal tables. Discover the wine of Cahors with wine tasting at a friendly vineyard. Toulouse is the nearest main airport, but Bergerac at only 80 km is served by Ryanair and other low cost airlines.

Further Details for the cottage in Lot, Midi-Pyrenees, France
Walking Holidays and Special Interest Groups Fraysse Haut is ideally situated for walking holidays as it is on the GR652, one of the long distance paths which cross France. A network of other hiking trails and waymarked tracks provide a variety of walks and scenery, some with fine viewpoints from the limestone cliffs overlooking the Lot river valley. Connection with the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostello is at Cahors. We offer an all-inclusive 1 week walking holiday with a programme of guided or unguided walks, which can be varied to suit all abilities. Cost €480 per person, available all year round. We can organise tailor-made walking holidays for groups and have welcomed charity and special interest groups for overnight stops. These include 3 cyclists en route from Spain to Britain, and 4 Camargue horses on their 3 month ride across France to a new home in the UK.
Airports Toulouse at 150 kilometres is the nearest main international airport, but Bergerac at only 80 kilometres is now served by an increasing number of low cost airlines, including Ryanair, from several UK airports. The new airport at Brive (scheduled to start services from the UK in summer 2008) is within easy reach.
Guest Book 'We are very much looking forward to seeing you again in 2008. Val and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay with you and we both think you and Dan have done a wonderful job of restoring and refurbishing the Barn and other buildings.' David & Valerie, UK (August 2007). 'Just a quick note ... Spring is running riot here but so much of my heart remains at Fraysse Haut and our sweet home for six weeks, the Barn. If you find yourself besieged by Americans, you can bet it’s because of the reports we brought home of our stay with you.' Susan & Dan, USA (March 2007). 'Thank you for a lovely relaxed time during our stay at Fraysse Haut. We really enjoyed staying in the Barn with all the comforts you have provided. If we have an opportunity in the future we would like to stay again.' Bob & Barbara, UK (May 2007).
