About the region The region around Lago Maggiore has plenty of leisure activities on offer. The wide-ranging nature reserve, Val Grande (35 km), is ideal for trekking excursions. There are two excellent golf courses about 10 minutes' drive away and a further seven about 40 minutes' drive from the villa. Day excursions to the Borromean and Brissago islands, to Arona, Riviera Cannero and the botanical gardens at the Villa Taranto are only a few of the many options. The landing pier for the ferry to Arona is only 10 minutes' drive away. In 15 minutes you can reach the romantic Lago di Orta with the island of S. Giulio. An ultra-modern beauty/fitness center can be found in the luxurious Grand Hotel Des Iles Borromees in Stresa (9 km). There is also an open-air swimming pool there, an indoor pool with aqua-gym and tennis courts. Why not round off your visit with a steam bath, sauna or hydro-massage? There are tennis courts and the Meina swimming pool within walking distance (5 minutes) from the villa.
Vacation without a car The railway station of Meina (local trains) is only a 2 minutes walk away, and the railway station of Arona is about 4 km distant - and you can easily reach Milan from there. Therefore, this accommodation is well suited if you wish to travel without a car: From the main station in Milan there is a direct, regular train connection (Cisalpino) to Arona, where you can take a taxi for the last 4 km to the property. Once on the premises you can make day trips in the region by taxi or by bus.
The garden The large garden is particularly inviting and has a covered terrace area with outdoor furniture (table and chairs). This looks out onto the neat lawn and the glistening lake. There is also a barbecue. This garden not only offers privacy - it is divided at the sides from the neighboring properties by high, thick hedges - but also has direct access to the lake: a ladder at the end of the garden leads directly down to the water. There is a public beach about 300 m from the house. In front of the property there is a buoy - you can lend a boat in a boat rental nearby (5 km). There is a public parking 50 m from the house. Considering the going rates in the region, this accommodation is comparably inexpensive. It also offers direct, uninterrupted access to the lake - something with which many hotels cannot compete.
