Harmony and the landscape The characteristics of the landscape are the fertility of the plain, covered with lemon, orange and olive trees, the viniculture regions (especially Corinth) on hills and mountains. In this mountainous region, you can find the typical mountainous villages, hidden mountain monasteries and antique cities. In the background, the Chelmos mountainous chain (2300 m) unfolds itself, and there is also a ski region from January until March. On the foot of mountain Chelmos, there is the famous mountainous town Kalavryta, which can be reached from the coastal town Diakofto with a cog railway, which drives you through the wonderful protected natural park of Vouraikos. The famous port Patra is 35 km away. It is the third biggest port in Greece and it is well known for its historical center, castle and the dome St. Andrew, the Roman Odeon where there are festivals even today. Near Patras, there is the longest suspension bridge in Europe.
