Details for The Stables in Cote d'Or, Burgundy, France

A completely separate, self-contained stone house, once the stables, now a romantic and luxurious blend of old and new. Yesterday's atmosphere with high 'charpente apparente' ceiling, oak floorboards and stone walls, mixed with today's conveniences with modern appliances, reversible air conditioning/heating (for those who prefer it, the outside air is pure and sweet), a wood burning stove, flat screen tv (satellite tv, dvd player) and internet access. The bathroom is completely modern and offers every comfort you would expect, including a laundry space with Miele appliances. The two queen beds are both made by Treca in France, the ultimate in comfort. Direct access to the garden with its ancient oak and walnut trees in park like grounds, a stone table on the gravelled terrace for al fresco dining (gas fired BBQ) games of petanque and a superb view over the vines. A perfect place to sit and savour a glass of fabulous St Aubin chardonnay, whilst watching the sun set.

Local village information St Aubin is situated just 5km from the village of Puligny Montrachet where you will find a bakery, village shop, Post Office restaurants, cafes and bars. The baker's van visits St Aubin every morning with delicious fresh bread, croissants, patisseries etc. The larger town of Chagny is situated 7km away and there you have everything possible from supermarket to Michelin starred restaurant, pharmacies, doctors, newsagents, patisserie and a great Sunday morning market - all the commerce of a small town. Beaune, at 19km, offers everything imaginable, including a wonderfully quaint Saturday morning market which is a must-visit.

Access TGV from Paris is just 1 hr 18 minutes to Le Creusot Montceau and then 45 minutes by car to St Aubin (rental car agencies at the station). Or you can come by TGV via Dijon (1 hr 40 mins) and change to the TER for a quick 20 minute ride to Beaune where you can collect your rental car. Lyon airport is around 1 hr 30 minutes by car. Geneva airport is around 2 hrs 30 minutes drive. Dijon airport is around 45 minutes drive.
