Kadavu estate Rental Property Information
Fiji is the one of the few remaining places on earth where you can find natural beauty and solitude that is unmatched but surprisingly affordable. Of the over 300 islands that make up Fiji, Kadavu is most desirable in many ways. It is sparsely populated so you can experience the sights and sounds of original nature unspoiled by modern “progress”. Yet it is easy to get to, just a 40 minute flight from Nadi International Airport or from the bustling capital of Fiji, Suva. We offer a five acre retreat on the south side of the island. It is called Muanisolo which in Fiji means “farthest point”. There are no neighbors or roads so your peace and quiet is complete. Only an occasional boat slides by on its way from one village to another or to the town of Vunisea and the local airport. The Astrolabe Reef, world famous for its spectacular diving, is only minutes away from Muanisolo by boat.

Further Details for the estate in Fiji
Enthusiastic divers come here from all over the world to enjoy the unusually clear water and diverse coral wonders, as yet unspoiled by pollution or depletion. Between the beach and the reef there is a beautiful lagoon that meets movie standards. Beyond the reef there is deep water for the more hardy deep fishing enthusiasts. The white sandy beach is completely private and is protected on both sides by high ridges. There are, however, some secret footpaths used by the natives and occasionally you may see small groups of them coming to your beach to satisfy their curiosity. But that only adds to the charm of the place. There are huge ancient shade trees all over the property so the choice of shade or sun is entirely yours. Outdoor barbecuing while watching the spectacular sunset is a favorite pastime. Muanisolo is a pleasant 40 minute boat ride from the Kadavu airport and our guide, Epeli, will pick you up at the airport and take you straight to our beach.
He will escort you up some steps to our bure (Fijian word for “sleeping place”) from where you will have a gorgeous unobstructed view of the ocean and the mountains left over from the ancient volcanic eruptions. Cool trade winds will caress you. Soft rains will cool off the day. The sound of distant surf crashing on the reef mixed with the gentle lapping of water on the beach is wonderfully soothing. You will see the beautiful Kadavu parrots that are to be found only in Kadavu and nowhere else in the world. Our bure is fully equipped for much more than sleeping. It is comfortably furnished with a completely equipped kitchen, hot and cold running water with inside shower and toilet, and solar power for lights and electronics, including TV and VCR. A king size bed, tables and chairs provide complete comfort. Epeli is a native Fijian born and raised in the nearest village, Nacomoto, so he knows the island and surrounding waters intimately.
Epeli is also our caretaker and, if you wish, he will check on you daily to see if he can help you with special needs. He is an expert boatman and can take you to just the right places for diving, snorkeling, surfing, fishing or whatever you want. Epeli’s pretty wife, Milika, will provide complimentary laundry service if you wish. There is a famous waterfall near Nacomoto that Epeli can guide you to. This waterfall is a truly beautiful sight and has been pictured in numerous travel advertisements. If you go there, you can have a refreshing swim in the pools below the waterfall and you can harvest some fresh water shrimp and eels that breed in those pools, and are prized as a local delicacy. The natives in the Kadavu villages still live the simple life of farming and fishing. They are a loving people and they welcome visitors to their homes.
Skiing Information: Fish out of the lagoon or the deeper waters are wonderfully fresh as Kadavu is still free of the pollution that is spoiling life for the fish and the fishermen elsewhere. There are snapper, bluefish, lobster, crab, parrot fish, clams, abalone and much more. Epeli can show you where and how to catch them. Because Muanisolo is remote, there are no supermarkets, so we provide a special service to our guests. You can send us a shopping list in advance and Epeli will go to Suva to buy all the things you need for the length of stay you have in mind. Your provisions will be waiting in the bure when you arrive. You will see that there is a guitar stowed behind the TV. The boys in the village are always proud to come around and treat you to some authentic ancient Fijian songs. And, if you fancy it, they can also mix a bowl of Kava to enliven the party. Just ask Epeli and he can arrange practically anything.
Golf Information: Most villages have small stores they call “canteens” where you can buy small items, and sometimes native crafts are available or you can ask the boys and ladies to make things such as baskets, mats, woodwork, etc, to your exact desires. One of the more enterprising boys has installed a pool table and you can match your skills against the well practiced locals. For more extensive shopping, Epeli can boat you to Vunisea or you can fly to Suva for a few days and nights of shopping and the unique and exciting Fijian nightlife. But the thing we enjoy most about Muanisolo is the perfect solitude set within the comforts of the modern fully equipped bure. Our five acres are blessed with ample fruit trees for your picking when in season. There are papayas, mangos, guavas, pineapples, lemons, oranges and bananas. Epeli plants gardens at certain times of the year and you are welcome to pick the vegetables. There are even hot peppers to spice up your cooking.
Guest Book If you do get lonesome and want the company of other visitors for a change, Epeli can take you to some resorts scattered around the island where you can enjoy food and wine or beer, and share experiences with others. You will find that the wonders of Kadavu transform all visitors to an unusual state of warmth and friendliness. That is why the Fijians are so loving. They have been living in paradise for thousands of years. Amenities: Completely equipped kitchen with range, fridge, and all cooking and eating utensils; laundry facility; inside shower and toilet; hot and cold running water, solar powered lights, TV and music center;king size bed.
