In the winter you can enjoy a scenic ride on an old steam engine narrow gauge train (used in the filming of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid), hit the slopes at Durango Mountain Resort (purgatory), try night skiing at Hesprus ski area, take in the beauty from a different perspective...from a dog sled or snowmobile or simply step out the back door and sled on mountainside that the home is built on.

Spring and Summer are a delight, you can take a ride through the Animas Valley on a glider plane, go fishing on one of the many lakes and streams (San Juan River - Best Fly Fishing in USA), get wet and wild on a raft trip through the Smelter Rapids on the Animas River, venture 30 minutes west of town and explore the Ancient Cliff Dwelling Indian Ruins at Mesa Verde National Park, rent a mountain bike at Pedal the Peaks and choose from hundreds of trails, spend the day hiking the Rockies or catch the D&SNG Rail Road!
