Adjacent to little known, pristine family beach on Merrimack River, where the waves are gentle and the water is warmer than the ocean beach. The fabulous Plum Island ocean beaches are a half mile walk, bike ride or car ride away. The seven mile long, undeveloped Parker River National Wildlife Refuge is a mile from the house, and is a haven for bird watchers, cyclists, and families seeking unspoiled beaches for swimming and tide pooling. The city of Newburyport, full of old world architectural charm, and modern stores and restaurants, is a five minute drive away.

There are numerous summer happenings in town, with outdoor evening concerts, theater, movies, and other fun events. Most notable is the annual Yankee Homecoming Festival which runs at the end of July - beginning of August.
