  • All the bathrooms are tiled and 3 have both tubs and shower but the one with goes with the Orange Bedroom only has a shower. This one can be shared by the 'Children's Room. There is washing machine, and clothes are dried on the clothes line which is found is a secluded area of the garden. On the Rocks has it's own well, so the water is soft and clean. However, if you are concerned about drinking this water, bottled water can be purchased locally. We use the well water for everything, including drinking. As there are no farms, or factories which could cause impurities. But water has not been tested.

  • The bedrooms each enjoy privacy and have their own bathroom and a/c units, as well as overhead fans, except the 'Children's Room' which shares a bathroom with either the Orange Room or the Master bedroom and only has fans, no a/c. (This bedroom is not suitable for adults as it is directly outside the Master bedroom and does not have enough privacy) The Master bedroom, Yellow Room and the Children's Room all have ocean views and outdoor patio space. The Orange Bedroom with twin beds has a private patio, and the Blue Bedroom has a view of the beautiful planted tropical gardens. Each room is decorated in its own Caribbean colour!

The views from this house are spectacular! Because the house is all on one floor, it makes it easy for families with children as well as making it possible for wheelchairs and people with walking disabilities to be able to get around easily and onto the patio and into the garden. However, they may have trouble getting down to the beach if they cannot be carried or helped. This depends on the height of the sand, which is outside our control! The bedrooms have a/c as well as overhead fans, except the Children's Room, which has an overhead fan and lower level fans.. The living/dining room has several overhead fans and floor level fans. The view from the Living Room are breathtaking! You can enjoy looking up the coast towards Harbour Is. and out to the Atlantic. There is a large patio going around the front of the house, giving private seating areas to some of the bedrooms. All this is facing the ocean and the beach. Miles of cool pink sand!

Although it is advisable to rent a car, it is not essential as there is a reliable taxi service, which can be booked in advance. Exploring the island is part of the Eleuthera adventure or a day trip to Harbour Island. Amenities: The Main House has four bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. One kingsize bed, 2 queens and 2 single beds. The children's room has 2 daybeds and shares a bathroom. 'Pebbles' has one kingsize bed, 2 full bathrooms and a sofa bed in the living/dining room. Both houses have fully equipped kitchen with microwaves, blenders, coffee machines, and dishwashers. Linens and towels are included. Washing machine. Telephone for local and incoming calls (phone cards available for long distance calls at the airport or the Batelco office in Governor's Harbour). There is a fax machine in the Main House. Satelitte Internet access. VCR, DVD and CD players, along with a good library of books, videos and DVD's. Backgammon and other games also in the house.

Laundry lines hung discreetly behind some pandana bushes! A wonderful house for family fun or groups of friends who want to enjoy each others company yet retain their own space and privacy. Activities: Walking for miles on the beach. Swimming, snorkeling and fishing. There is a pool and tennis courts at Cigatoo Resorts just down the road. Bicycles are available for teen-agers and adults. There are several excellent restaurants within a 20 minute radius by car. The nearest is Tippy's, which is just down the beach.Enjoy the casual atmosphere of the island and the delicious food! Dolce Vita is run by one of the best chefs in the Bahamas! The town of Governor's Harbour, 2 miles from On the Rocks, has all necessary shops, banks, travel agent, grocery stores, gift shops and restaurants. It is picturesque and unspoiled. There are no large hotels or casinos on Eleuthera. It is a beautifully quiet and peaceful island. There are many beaches to explore.

Harbour Island is an hour to the north and makes a great day trip. Lunch at the famous Pink Sands resort, scuba diving at Valentine's Dive Centre and renting a golf cart to ride around the island and enjoy the beautiful architecture of the old Bahamian houses dating back to the 18th century.
