There are several table top and standing fans available for ordinary hot days. There is also central air for extra muggy days when you want to get away from the humidity. The house is also equipped with a generator in the unlikely event that there is a power failure.

A Typical Day at the Boston Hill Roadhouse To start your day, walk to the Chilmark Store, buy your morning coffee and newspaper and sit on one of the rocking chairs on the porch. When you get tired of people watching, cross the street and find some good reading material at Chilmark’s outstanding public library. Then head to one of the best beaches on the Island, Lucy Vincent Beach with your sandwiches from the Chilmark Store. After a day on LVB, return to Boston Hill Roadhouse and rinse off in the outdoor shower. Barbecue your dinner on a gas grill while enjoying the view from the deck. After dinner, climb the spiral staircase to the spacious roof deck to watch a beautiful sunset over Menemsha Pond.

Space Well Designed for Two Families The interior of Boston Hill Roadhouse has a master bedroom wing with its own bath, spa area and office. The spa connects to the master bedroom but is also accessible from a separate entrance. The spa can also be closed off to maintain privacy in the master bedroom. Next to the master bedroom is a large study area and a full bath which contains a sleeping loft. There is also a deck off of the master bedroom. On the other side of the house is a guest wing with two bedrooms and a shared full bathroom. Each bedroom offers a loft area with sleeping accommodations and one loft contains a cozy feather bed.

An Open Feel With a Lot of Natural Light The living room is adjacent to a large open deck area. The dining area and the kitchen are a few steps up from the living room. This separation creates a private feel in both the dining area and living room while preserving the openness of the first floor (eat dinner peacefully while the children play in the living room.) There are water views from the dining room, from the deck off the master bedroom and most notably, from the roof deck. For bird watchers, the self-service bird feeders are guaranteed to bring a delightful view from the living room window. Other features which make the Boston Hill Roadhouse a great vacation home include: an easily accessible basement (for bicycle storage), a hammock (for those who like to commune with nature on hot lazy days), three lightweight “Poke Boats” for kayaking, a wind sculpture on the lawn and quiet dirt roads which lead down to the scenic fishing village of Menemsha (about a 45 minute hike).
