The covered porch has a six-person, outside dining table and chairs. The porch has a cushioned 4 seat patio set and 4 Adirondack chairs. There is also an 8-seat, fold-down BBQ table and large sun parasol on the upper deck in the woods. The telephone will be limited to local calls. There are two inflatable lightweight kayaks with instruction and life vests. Two mountain bikes ( no helmets ) are available for guests. On the landing above the kitchen there is a second dining table and a few chairs(more in top bedroom wardrobe) which doubles as a desk. A bookcase provides binoculars,local information.trail guides maps etc.plus a selection of novels . A door leads to a bridge and steps to the outside deck. Two steps above is our media and reading room with a comfortable sofa and two antique oak Morris reading chairs. There is a TV and DVD player but (no apology !) no cable service. Child day beds can be placed in these rooms .

The Adirondack National Park America's largest park is a spectacular wilderness of natural beauty into which a visitor can immerse freely.The Park Authority protects its natural state vigorously. Scenic drives abound, there are thousands of miles of marked trails for hikers and bikers, dozens of lakes and ponds accessible to the public , for fishermen, swimmers,sailors,powerboaters and skiers. Nature lovers will appreciate the forest canopy, the animal and birdlife.Streams rivers and waterfalls comprising the headwaters of the mighty Hudson offer wondrous exploration.Licensed hunting begins in October.

Golf and Skiing Schroon Lake has a 9 hole municipal golf course.Within 30 minutes drive there are several challenging 18 hole courses : about Ticonderoga and Lake George especially. The snows usually fall after Thanksgiving. The closest ski resort is Gore Mountain (35mins) and Lake Placid (45 mins) Killington and the Green Mountain resorts (eg Mad River Glen) are very accessible albeit involving a longer journey.There are many more.

Accessibility from outside the US Visitors from the UK and Europe enjoy a huge range of options Major American, British and European airlines fly from most cities to New York, Boston,Philadelphia Baltimore,Toronto and Montreal.,to name a few.These hubs offer short internal flights to Albany, New York's state capital or Burlington in Vermont. Montreal is a two hour drive. Car rental is available at these airports. Our house is 2.6 miles from the main New York Montreal interstate highway (the Northway) or I 87 .We recommend our guests to book US Airlines or Continental Airlines to Albany. This airport is a mile from the I 87. Some guests initially stay in New York City or Montreal , arriving by Amtrak rail or Trailways, a NYS coach service.
