Further Details for the house in London, England
From the house you are within 15 minutes walk of Knightsbridge to the east, where you pass the flamboyant Italianate Brompton Oratory Church and you can shop at the world renowned store Harrods and lunch at Harvey Nicholls. Just beyond Knightsbridge is Buckingham Palace and Piccadilly. A 15 minute walk going north will take you to Kensington Palace, the former home of Diana, Princess of Wales, where you can stroll in Kensington Palace Gardens and the wide open spaces of Hyde Park, or sample the delights of Kensington High Street. Kensington is famous for its roof top garden restaurant with its beautiful ‘garden in the sky’, Jazz Bar and Night Club all of which are on your door-step. A short bus ride up Kensington Church Street brings you to Nottinghill Gate, (made famous by Julia Roberts) with its weekend street market is perfect for antique hunters.
To the South of Reece Mews, a 15 minute walk will find you on the Old King’s Road, Chelsea, famous for its designer boutiques and Terence Conran’s Blue Bird Restaurant. A further 15 minutes walk beyond Old King’s Road and you reach the River Thames with its famous bridges and riverside walks. If you are looking for culture, the house is within 2 minutes walk of London’s most famous museums: the Victoria & Albert Museum; Natural History Museum and the Science Museum. And you are a short walk from London’s Royal Albert Hall with its busy concert schedule, the Royal College of Art (famous for its student summer shows) and the Royal College of Music. Musicians from the Royal College of Music regularly perform lunchtime concerts in St. Mary’s Church, Kensington, so you can rest your feet and take in some culture between shopping sprees!
If you are looking for musical venues and Jazz in particular (being artists ourselves) we can direct you to all the best places and help you to plan your musical repertoire. For the fitness conscious (or to work off the French style cuisine) there is a gym opposite the house (rates on application). The house is a traditional Victorian style mews house over three floors (no elevator!) with the living room and kitchen on the top floor with double doors opening onto a narrow balcony with ornamental shrubs. The living room faces east and is lovely and bright, especially in the morning, when you can open the doors and take the air whilst drinking that first cup of coffee and enjoying a fresh croissant from the patisserie round the corner! There are double doors onto a narrow balcony which has several ornamental shrubs. A TV and DVD player is available along with phone (calls are extra) and internet access.
