Retirees and soon to be retired This is a great location to check out possible retirement homes in western and central-western North Carolina: Hickory, Asheville, Hendersonville, Boone, Charlotte, Winston-Salem and Greensboro areas are all close enough to scout out and still come 'home' each night. For extended stays in the off-season, call for special rates.

Fishing Best seasons are mid-spring, especially April, and mid-fall, especially October
