You'll find serenity at the Bella Vista Cottage, a charming and romantic lakefront property on Baylor's Lake built in the 1920's by two anthracite coal miners. Tan with sailcloth colored trim, overlooking the water, this quiet and relaxing retreat is perfect for the traveler tired of the typical tourist traps of the Poconos. It's peaceful here and we like it that way. Reminiscent of earlier days, the pace at the Bella Vista Cottage is a little slower. Enjoying a coffee on the large screened-in front porch overlooking the glistening water is the perfect way to start your day. Guests frequently unwind here with a favorite book. If you aren't a sun worshiper, escape to our hammock underneath an umbrella of shady pines. Each of the three bedrooms has a cozy inviting feel, and is furnished with extra pillows and fluffy comforters. Two bedrooms with full size beds are on the first floor. The third bedroom with two twin beds is located on the second floor.

The bathroom is located on the first floor, coming complete with an old-fashioned clawfoot bathtub. You will enjoy swimming in the crystal clear spring-fed waters. There are plenty of fish to catch; however, please know that the lake has a catch and release policy strictly enforced by the Lake Association. Enjoy some rays on the over-sized dock, big enough for the whole family to enjoy, or just float around in the rowboat provided for your enjoyment. The dock has been 'baby-proofed' in 2004, with plenty of safety railings going around so parents can relax too. Most times you'll have the lake to yourself. If it's jet skis and motorboats you're craving, you won't find them here because they are restricted. We deal in stress-free, quiet getaways. Relax in the spacious living room painted in a soothing earth tone; prepare your dinner in the ultra-spacious kitchen; enjoy many laughs with family and friends around the antique farm table -- all with great views of the lake.

The cottage is decorated with many antiques and unique treasures collected from all over the world. We have tried our best to capture a feel of old-fashioned lake living with the modern comforts of today. There are so many extras including a dishwasher, washer and dryer, and even central vacuum. The cottage has been completely restored without compromising the charm of the original architectural integrity. Visit nearby antique shops, an artist's gallery, or some fantastic restaurants. Take a hike at the Lackawanna State Park, or play some golf with the kids -- only seven dollars a round at the Lakeland Golf course which is only a 1/2-mile away. There's affordable fun waiting for you. Nighttime stargazing is always free. With many returning guests, we book early. Make the Bella Vista your quiet retreat.

Please note that all guests must sign a rental agreement acknowledging that they have read and fully understand all the rules and regulations of the Lake Association and Bella Vista Cottage.
