Castine house Rental Property Information

Feel right at home in our character filled cozy Castine Maine Home, built originally as the Carriage House for The Manor B & B in 1906! The house is right at the Ocean here in this spectacular pre- Revolutionary War town that looks much as it did in 1800! The adorable village still has hundreds of Elm trees and is a deep water port with views of beautiful little islands, out in the ocean. The house will welcome you and your family or friends, including well behaved pets and even better behaved children. We are available to rent from mid-May to late August, 2009! During the school year we share our home with older students who attend The Mane Maritime Academy in town. Close to Acadia National Park and Touristy Bar Harbor, Castine offers a seductive retreat. There are several restaurants, shops, beaches and hiking and golf and tennis all within walking distance from the house. You can learn to Kayak in Castine! We boast fine museums and galleries.

Notes:

We have a large yard and are next to Witherle Woods with numerous trails and paths and wildlife. You should understand that we allow no smoking in the house nor on the decks near the house. We have a spot for smoker outside near the driveway. Only very well behaved children and pets are welcome to visit us and no running is ever permitted on stairs outside or stairs in the house. Running is dangerous and totally unnecessary. We have an orchard and a vegetable garden and flower gardens to enjoy. Our night sky is spectacular! If you ask , the caretaker will take you on a free tour of the Penninsular Island called Castine or talk to to you about the neat stuff to do while you are here. We could offer you an evening of wine and cheese to meet the caretaker. Please let us know if you would enjoy doing this one evening. To meet Castine is to fall in love. We know you will enjoy Castine and our rustic, yet nice and all complete converted barn and property!

Further Details for the house in Downeast and Acadia, Maine, USA

Some Available Options for your group! Lovely Lobster Bakes on Morse Cove for your group, $35 per adult and $5 per child, providing the kids eat hot dogs! This is an amazing treat and if you request in advance and the permit can be obtained we will do a bonfire on the beach for you with S'Mores! Imagine all this and right on the water. Or you can ask for the Lovely Lobster Bake to be done on our deck for a little more money per person, but certainly convenient. The Morse Cove dinner on the water has a 'rain date' scheduled in and is probably the most fun! It is five minutes by car from the house! Birthday Cakes and other Special Cakes can be ordered for you from Bah's Bakehouse (they also do catering). Let us know what you desire! Boat rides in Castine Harbor or from Morse Cove or another beautiful spot can be arranged for your group if we have the dates in advanced. Kayaking and canoes? Traditional Massages ? Mayan Massage? Tarot Readings? Golf? Tennis? Babysitting? Wine and Cheese? Pedicures and Manicures?

When you are here: Our house includes everything you could most likely think of for a great time! Most cell phones are usable in Castine these days due to some new or improved cell towers -- AT&T especially works! The house telephone is local only -- Castine, Bucksport, Blue Hill and Ellsworth basically, so you might like to have a telephone card with you for “long distance”. Your phone number here will be 207-326-0586. Bring your laptop computers as the house is wired with Lynksys, but you will need a notebook adapter if one is not built into your computer already. We have a very big TV in the Family Room with a VCR and DVD player. We have a lot of DVDs and VHS tapes here for your use. Yes, we have a pool table and some equipment for it, but it is for fun play not tournament play as our floors are far from level! But we think families usually enjoy playing pool at the table! There is croquet set, badminton and there are lots of indoor games and puzzles. We have tons of books!

And besides the Brass Band on the Green. . . We have a great beach and saltwater pool in addition to the water at the cove, an easy walk! There is a private/public golf course and tennis within walking. Four Flags is a great shop for souvenirs and all sorts of wonderful items. We have a clothing store called Sarah, Sarah. Our little grocery is the T & C. Don;t miss The Castine Handiwork Shop. There is a nice bookstore called Compass Rose downtown. Adams School on the Village Green has a good playground and the library is near there with books for the kids and maybe a story hour before bedtime.

Skiing Information: there is no skiing in the Summer

Golf Information: There is a private/public golf course with a pro shop and tennis with lessons, within walking. Some say the lay of the course reminds them of Scotland!
