Beacon house Rental Property Information

Beautifully furnished, charming 1920's home for rent in the Hudson Valley community of Beacon. Has loads of character and great vibes. The house is quiet, bright and in a residential neighborhood only one hour and 15 mins from NYC by train or car. Beacon is the perfect base from which to explore the Hudson Valley, or take a trip into Manhattan for a day of sight seeing or a night at the theatre. Alternatively, you may chose to stay close and enjoy folk singer Pete Seegers beloved home town, the place that's creating such a buzz in the art world. There is the famed DIA Foundation museum, the many Art and Antique Galleries and open artist's studios, as well as the beautiful Storm King Art Center across the river... not forgetting several venues for live performance (theatre and music). DIA also hosted the Merce Cunningham Dance Company this year.

The Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival is held during July and August on the expansive gardens of one of the most magnificent, beautifully restored period homes in the United States...Boscobel, with it's pristine views across the river and down the valley. It’s just south of Beacon in the charming village of Cold Spring, which is well worth a visit. The sweet Garrison Theatre in the old train station on Garrison Landing also offers plays, musicals, and concerts throughout the year.

Year round, on the second Saturday of every month the galleries in Beacon stay open until 9 PM serving wine and snacks. Join the crowds wandering Main Street. Don't forget to stop at Hudson Beach Glass in the old firehouse for a glass blowing demonstration... or sign up for lessons and do it yourself! Then boogie on at the 2nd Saturday dance event which takes place at one of the local restaurant.

Speaking of food... Beacon has many fine places to satisfy your hunger. Or why not dine in one of the restaurants across the Hudson on the rivers edge in Newburgh? You can take the ferry across and explore the mansions and historic sites of Newburgh where George Washington was based during the Revolutionary War whle you're at it. Beacon also has it's own historic sites, including the Madame Brett Homestead built in 1709. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the spectacular hiking, biking, kayaking and sailing in the region. You may also swim in the Hudson River at Stony Point in Coldspring. There's a children's floating pool at the Beacon dock and an outdoor pool open to the public in the summer months which is in a wooded area.
