Gordes house Rental Property Information

You will find this magnificently restored Farmhouse property and its charming independent 18th century hunting lodge in the heart of the Luberon National Park near Gordes rated as one of the most beautiful villages in France. The Farmhouse, once a Honey Farm, stands in thirty acres of land and is surrounded by thousands of acres of oak forest. There are exceptional views over the Luberon valley to the Luberon mountain. Further up the windy road and over the hills is the beautiful lavender country of Sault which boasts a patchwork of lavender colours and red poppies in the summer. If you come when the cherries are ripe, you may pick as many as you wish from our cherry trees and the farm chickens will provide fresh eggs.

Location

The delightful nearby villages of Lacoste, Roussillon, Bonnieux, Menerbes, Oppède, Lourmarin and Coustellet offer fantastic markets every day of the week and supermarkets in the nearby towns of Apt and Carpentras. Isle sur la Sorgue, a Venice-like town about half an hour away, has around six hundred antique dealers and a thriving street market every weekend. Kayaking down the river Sorgue, from the Fontaine de Vaucluse (a fully grown river which comes out of a cave) is also fun. The local wines are excellent, and just to the north are extensive wine tours around the vineyards of the Cotes du Rhone. The papal city of Avignon is an hour away, and Aix en Provence only slightly more. This incredible setting is perfect for a memorable holiday in the Provence. 5kms from the pretty medieval village of Murs where you can buy fresh bread and croissants, the local store sells most things and the family run café/restaurant are great friendly places to eat.

The reception rooms of this house are large and spectacular, and the large drawing room and beautiful sunlit dining room both boast impressive stone fireplaces, and three full length French windows opening onto balcony and terrace outside, pretty ochre coloured library with open fire, comfortable sofas and TV/DVD, summer dining room, kitchen fully equipped with Paul Bocuse range cooker, American fridge with ice maker, dishwasher, pantry, small upstairs kitchen, with cooker, dishwasher sink and storage. The Farmhouse swimming pool is a 'natural' free-form pool with horizon effect, surrounded by a 'beach'. When the weather is cooler it can be heated. On the ground floor you will find two delightful bright cheerful lounges with comfortable sofa's and armchairs near the fireplaces, coffee tables, antique furniture and colourful tapisseries on the walls. There is also a large dining area and fully equipped open plan kitchen with french doors opening onto the grounds.
