Moonridge Cottage 'Almost Heaven'...closer than you think! Enjoy the atmosphere of a by-gone era, and the quaint charm of this mountain cottage. Additional photos are available via a link at another part of this ad; click on 'studio' album and feel free to view other albums depicting local beauty. Enjoy Sam and Bobby's hospitality and amenities such as fresh, home-baked breads, a kitchen stocked with basic staples if you choose to do some cooking, gourmet teas and coffees - all at no additional charge. Catering can be arranged for special occasions. The Ericssons are on-site (300 yards 'up the mountain') year round, with wi-fi/fax availability. 'Moonridge' is the working art studio of artist and host, Bobby Ericsson, and is available for vacation rental during non-use periods by the artist. There are works of art and art materials on site so please supervise your children at all times.

Parking for RV/Boat/Trailer, Catering Available, Large screened porch; porch swing; 2 ceiling fans, table/chairs/ very comfy settee with lots of fluffy cushions (GREAT place to sleep, listening to all the night sounds in the woods). Winter view of the Shenandoah Valley with Shenandoah River snaking through the valley; trees obscure view in summer, but 'treehouse' effect in the summer; you feel like you're in the tops of the trees. From the high porch, watch the deer and other wildlife meander through the woods. Wifi is available at the main house - 300 yards up the mountain from Moonridge. There is a path through the woods, or you can drive up. You are welcome to sit on our deck and use our wireless even if we're not home. Adjacent to Appalachian Trail; kayaking, hiking, fishing, biking, tubing, antiquing, civil war history, quaint mountain towns and country roads, 12 minutes from Charles Town Races and Slots. Pet Friendly: $25 fee per pet; must sign rental rules agreement.

Area Attractions: Explore Harpers Ferry National Historic Park, Appalachian Trail, Charles Town Races and Slots, Antietam Battlefield, tubing, canoeing and kayaking on the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers, white-water rafting, juried Mountain Heritage Arts and Crafts Festival (June & Sept.), fine dining, shopping and antiquing in quaint historic towns of Shepherdstown and Charles Town, WV, Leesburg, VA and Frederick, MD; hiking and biking along river roads and C&0 canal ~ or ~ simply relax with a good book from the extensive on-site library and a glass of iced tea or gourmet coffee on the screened porch, enjoying the mountain air and cool breezes.

Additional Information Handicapped Accessible: The path to the house from the driveway is not smooth. There is one step going into the cabin. Bathroom doorway and bathroom are narrow. Kid Friendly: Moonridge is a working art studio, so parents must be responsible for small children. Paintings and framing supplies are often stacked against walls. $200 security deposit. Smoking Not Allowed: No smoking on the screened porch either.
