St. James Plantation-Marshwinds Condo near where the Cape Fear river at historic Southport)meets the intracoastal waterway and the ocean. St. James is a gated community with four golf courses. These golf courses were designed by Nicklaus Design, Hale Irwin, Pete Dye and Tim Cate, there's a course for every skill level. Also in the plantation you will find a marina right on the intracoastal waterway as well as both outdoor and indoor swimming pools. The Cape Fear river marina is a five mile drive in the town of Southport. The beaches of North Carolina's Brunswick Islands are close by with a St. James beach house on Oak Island, a ten minute drive. Also withing driving distance are the towns of Shallotte, Calabash and Lockwood Folly. The town of Southport is home to both the Fort Fisher and the Bald Head Island ferry's.
