Pets & Pet Fee Information: Certain pets approved on a 'case-by-case basis'. Speak to owner for approval PRIOR to making your reservation. An additional 'non-refundable' $100 pet-sanitizing fee would be applied. Fort DeSoto State Park Tip: Dog owners love the park's leash-free dog beach, dubbed the Paw Playground. Beautiful Gulf Coast Weather Year Round The Saint Petersburg area beaches are some of the most beautiful in Florida. The waters of the beautiful Gulf of Mexico and white-sand are award winning combinations. Not only are the beaches beautiful, but there is so much to do and see in the area. The average temperatures in Saint Petersburg during March and April are warm. The average daytime highs reach 74 to 80 degrees and the nighttime lows a pleasant 60 to 65 degrees. The average water temperature is a warm 71 to 79 degrees Fahrenheit.

Award Winning Beaches Fort DeSoto State Park Listed on Dr. Beach's 2005 list of best American beaches, few tourists make it to this stunning swath of sand. Bay area locals, however, consider Fort DeSoto the best beach around. Come weekends, recreational boaters swarm within swimming distance of the sugary sands. Still, you can always find a private spot to sun on the wide beach itself. Arriving by car, the island park conjures old, wild Florida, and you could get lost exploring the 900 acres of bike trails, beaches and nature walks.
