Other water activities at Smith Mountain Lake include canoeing, sailing, parasailing, swimming, and water skiing. Our covered lakefront deck includes a ceiling fan, telescope, phone and power jacks for your computer, and a dining table with chairs. Our living area includes a dining table facing Smith Mountain Lake, even though Lisa's favorite vacation spot was in Blue Hill, Maine where there was a rocking/reclining love seat; a work table, and phone jacks for your laptop computer; cable TV/VCR; CD/Tape Player/Radio; romantic videos (rated PG to R); and recent bestsellers. Our game shelf includes Backgammon, Checkers, Chess, Cribbage, Dominoes, Playing Cards, Monopoly, Scrabble, plus tennis rackets. Our kitchen includes a refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, stove/oven, coffeemaker, toaster, blender, silverware and dinnerware, spices, plus all the gadgets you'll need whenever you 'cook in'. When you prefer to dine out, there are many restaurants nearby.
Our bedroom includes a comfortable double bed, a dresser, lighted bedside stands, a TV/VCR (for videos only, no cable), and an AM/FM/Weatherband clock radio. If you like to fish, local boat rental companies charge about $130/day for a motorized pontoon boat. Please bring your own fishing gear. A supermarket, drugstore, and shopping center are 10 minutes away by car. Our condo includes a collection of local restaurant menus and brochures describing Smith Mountain Lake and nearby tourist activities. Free local phone calls include Internet access via Roanoke. Long distance calls require your calling card. Coin-op washers and dryers are shared by the condos. Smith Mountain Lake stocks striped bass, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass -- and is home to black bass, crappie, catfish, and muskellunge. Walleyes breed naturally. Smith Mountain Lake freshwater fishing records include a 49 lb., 4 oz. striped bass and a 2 lb., 6 oz. Roanoke bass.
Drive times to major cities include: Roanoke VA (45 minutes), Lynchburg VA (60 minutes), Greensboro NC (2 hours), Winston-Salem NC (2 hours), Charlottesville VA (2.5 hours), Raleigh NC (3.75 hours), Richmond VA (3 hours), Washington DC (4.5 hours), Philadelphia PA (7.5 hours), and Atlanta GA (8.5 hours).
