The original Serenity Prayer was written by renowned theologian Reinhold Niebuhr in this 1930's cottage! Explore the rich social/spiritual history or simply enjoy a peaceful retreat. The SERENITY STONE COTTAGE is located in the historic town of Heath (pop. 805), in western Massachusetts. Heath is 3 miles off Route 2, also known as the Mohawk Trail, a gorgeous drive through the Berkshire Mountains. Interstate 91 connects to Route 2 in Greenfield, MA. The Mohawk Trail boasts a national forest, antique shoppes, sugar houses, Native American crafts, the famous 'Hairpin Turn', and ends in North Adams, home of Mass MoCA (Museum of Contemporary Art). Heath is very near SHELBURNE FALLS, a charming village with much to do (and Mocha Maya's Cafe w/ wireless). The cottage is just 6m from Berkshire East ski center, and 30 m to Mt. Snow in Vermont. White water rafting on the Deerfield River just 6m away! Also LESS THAN 6 miles to: artisan glass studio, fiber arts (angora goat farm), apple orchards, country store, winery, maple sugar houses, blueberry farms, Lavender festival and Reggae festival! Walk to local library, pet llamas, and basketball court.

    Note: There is no extra 'cleaning fee' for this vacation rental, and of course, no required gratuity.
  • Firewood is provided at no extra charge.

    There may be a surcharge (based on actual usage above a specified dollar amount) for propane fuel during heating season- please note that any potential fee schedules will be negotiated in advance and will be an 'equitable deal' for the Guest. (Some other places are simply charging a higher rental rate for colder months, a plan that does not benefit a guest who is sensible/ responsible about heating the living space.)

    Our cottage has 4 heating zones (for propane-fueled baseboard heat), and is fully insulated. Also, we have 2 fireplaces and 1 woodstove, as well as lots of cozy blankets and quilts for your added comfort during nite hours.

YELLOW BEDROOM has a small but very charming single 'daybed', closet and the windows open to courtyard garden. (Note: Cottage is surrounded by trees - zero traffic noise!!) THE COTTAGE ALSO HAS A BEAUTIFUL LOFT - this is a bright, open space w/exposed brick, skylights, reading nook, and double futon couch.

Fall Foliage Season AUTUMN FOLIAGE in New England is spectacular! Come to the Serenity Stone Cottage in the Berkshires for the very best 'Leaf Peeping' in October/November. Our property has pine, birch, maple, ash, and cedar trees so you can enjoy the seasonal changes of nature just by sitting on the balcony porch overlooking field and forest. Or drive the famous Mohawk Trail and be wowed by the colorful views along the way. (Bring a picnic and don't forget your camera, sketchpad, or watercolor paints!)

How Many Guests? The Serenity Stone Cottage is ideal for 4- 6 guests, but will accommodate 7. This is a spacious cottage with many options for privacy. The Master Bedroom Suite is secluded from the rest of the cottage -the library/sitting area is a peaceful space where you might read or write after the other guests are asleep. An open Loft creates a third level above the main living room. The entire lower level of the cottage is an informal TV and GAME ROOM - send the kids down to play while you sit on the south balcony porch and just listen to the birds (or watch the falling snow).

SKI Massachusetts or Vermont! The Serenity Stone Cottage is an all-season rental, ideal for ski vacations! BERKSHIRE EAST SKI CENTER is just 6 miles away - this is a wonderful, family-oriented (and more affordable) alternative to the bigger mountains. MOUNT SNOW is 30 miles away, via a scenic drive into Vermont. Stay at the Stone Cottage in Heath and (when you're not actually skiing) avoid the crowds and high prices that come with closer proximity to Mt. Snow.
