Asheville cabin Rental Property Information

This architect designed split-level cabin, 'Mountain Laurel', is situated on a ridgetop of Hickory Nut Mountain at an elevation of 2900 feet at Gateway Mountain, a gated nature preserve and mountain residential community. The cabin sits on four acres surrounded by a hardwood forest with pastoral valleys and distant mountain views. Quiet surroundings allow the guest to experience the woods and her creatures with no distractions from city and traffic noise. There is a waterfall, a stocked trout pond and 2 lakes in the development. Conveniently located near Asheville and Black Mountain, Gateway Mountain is an easy drive just 7 miles off I40, which situates you midway between the city of Asheville and the Biltmore and, 15 miles from the resort town of Black Mountain with its quaint antique and gift shops and good selection of restaurants. 'Mountain Laurel' provides a serene environment for a 'get away from it all' experience.

A 45 minutes drive will take you to historic downtown Hendersonville and the nearby Flat Rock Playhouse. Also nearby are Chimney Rock Park, Mount Pisgah, and Mount Mitchell State Parks. Mt Mitchell is the tallest peak in the eastern US. Lake Lure is 30 minutes away with it's beaches, picnic areas and boat rental facilities. Or, you can enjoy a lunch or dinner cruise or dine at one of their lakeside restaurants. There are 2 grocery stores in Old Fort, a 10 minute drive away, and 2 more in Black Mountain, a 20 minute drive away. Old Fort features genuine mountain music every Friday and Black Mountain also has live entertainment during the summer. There are swimming pools in Old Fort and in Black Mountain. Information on these and other attractions are at the house as well as recommendations for dining out and menus from local restaurants. The house is stocked with most of the basics. Winter activities There is skiing, snow boarding and tubing available near Boone NC. Christmas at the Biltmore is a very special occasion.

Summer activities July 4th party and fireworks display at Lake Lure. Summer concerts in Black Mountain. The Leaf festival takes place in May and October. Asheville has minor league baseball and the Bele Chere festival, one of the largest outdoor music events in the US.
