Sanibel Island condo Rental Property Information

This condo is a top floor, outside corner unit that face the open Gulf and down the beach for five miles. You can see the lights of Fort Myers at night to the left. In the morning, from your king size bed, you can see the sunrise out of the water like a big red ball. The location is the best for the views of Sanibel and the Gulf. The complex is all new after hurricane Charley. The landscaping, the pool, even the street coming in are all replaced. The flowers, the picnic area, as well as the palm tree lined driveway as you come in reflect the quiet beauty of Sanibel. We have a tennis court, beachside swimming pool, bikes on site for rent, shuffleboard, basketball, wireless internet and a well lighted picnic area with gas grills, tables, and palm tree lighting to add ambiance to you picnic.

Sanibel Island is over the 3 mile bridge from Ft. Myers. It's green waters welcome you on the way in. Dolphin are very plentiful and you will see them daily as they swim by. The island including Captiva is about 14 miles long. It is noted for shelling throughout the country. There are bike paths that are set a little in from the road so that you can safely view the landscape. It is a very 'green island'. Two thirds are protected preserve for the birds and wild life. The signs on the island are small to reflect the island's beauty. The sign for the supermarket is about 2 X 3 and it has a sea gull displayed on it. You can fish, swim, bike, take advantage of the Ding Darling for land tours of the preserve. You can also canoe this reserve. The boat rides to Useppa Island, Pine Is. are wonderful as the dolphins put on a show following the boat--jumping out of the water. There is local theatre here as well as golf and the movies. Great restaurants and shops abound. Paradise.

  • The bathrooms are all new after Hurricane Charley. They are all tiled with a Florida design around the tops of the tiles. They are done in the colors of the sea--pale blue and green. The master bath is actually in the master bedroom. We have beige marble type floors in the hallways, dining room and baths.

  • There is a king size bed in the master bedroom. From this bed, about 7 am, you can see the sun rise. The master bedroom has a sliding glass door that faces east and you see the sun rise without getting out of bed. Awesome. It also has a TV and wireless web is provided. So bring your laptop. The master bedroom also has a closet for all your clothes and is decorated in beige, white and pale pink walls. Summer has arrived. The guest bedroom has twin beds and also the closet and TV. This is great if you have little ones with you or someone who watches all the sports channels. It is colored in blue and white. It reminds you of summer. The living room also has a hideabed sofa which does come in handy when extra company arrives; it is queen size sleep sofa. You can hear the sound of the waves and they rock you to sleep at night. It is a very peaceful sound. Enjoy.

From our condo at Ocean's Reach, you are about 20 steps to the water, pool and beach. You sit on you lanai and look at the beach and the Gulf. Vacation immediately sets in here as it is such a beautiful place. Sanibel is an East- West island so that you can see the sunrise daily and see the sunset in winter. After February, the sun sets around the corner on the beach and you drive to Captiva to see it set. People gather with their drinks to toast to the sunset. It is a special time of day. They look for the 'Green Flash' at sunset. Atmospheric conditions have to be just right to see that. dolphin watching is another past-time on the beach as well as shelling. some visitors go out in the middle of the night to find shells at low tide. You can see the flashlights on the beach every night. The airport is about 45 minutes away. The Edison Home and the Ford Museum are very interesting for visiting. On the island, a new sports complex just opened two months ago -very popular.

Golf and biking are big sports on Sanibel. If you want golf, the Beachview Golf course is a public course that is very close and popular here. Off- island there are many golf courses close by. On the islands there are miles of bike paths and at our complex and you can rent bikes for the week. You see a variety of kinds of bicycles from the bicycle built for two to the surrey with the fringe on top. People are going daily to look at the spots of the Island as the Light House, the east end with their little shops, the Beautiful Ding Darling preserve and also the lovely homes that dot the island. Right here at Ocean's Reach you can play tennis, swim, walk on the beach, go shelling, search for treasure, kayak, fish. We were watching the fisherman bring their bait by kayak and fish from shore. The high point of every day is sunset here as people gather to talk with new friends and toast the evening sun. When you wake up at 7:00 sit on your lanai and watch the sunrise. In this unit you can see this from your bed.

Boating There are wonderful boat rides with Captiva Cruises. The one to Useppa leaves from Jensens Marina on Captiva for the day. You have lunch at Useppa Island at the Old Collier Inn. This Island is kept like 'Old Florida with the white homes and lattice work porches. They are on a pink path leading up to the Collier Inn. It was completely refurbished after Hurricane Charley. This Island was home to the movie stars in the 20s. It is landscaped so beautifully. The boat ride is also great as they give you an idea of the history of the Islands and the dolphins follow the boat while jumping. It is very exciting to see a whole group of people clapping to get the dolphins to jump. There are other fishing trips from Grandma Dots or the Sanibel Marina with plenty of fish to be caught. There is also a morning cruise for Breakfast that is really charming. You really can find plenty to do. Ft. Myers has the Barbara Mann Theatre that offers current plays and musicals.
