  • The master bedroom is located on the 2nd floor with a wonderful king sized bed at one end and a sleeping nook with two twin beds at the other (there is also a twin couch/futon); and has two ceiling fans and two stand-up fans. The downstairs bedroom is off the kitchen and also has its own outside entrance; and has a ceiling fan. There is a queen sized futon on the screened porch for those hot sticky nights when you want to fall asleep to a gentle breeze and the sound of water lapping the shore. All sheets are 100% cotton, and there plenty of pillows and blankets. There is a stereo and VCR/DVD player and TV in the master bedroom for a late night movie or music. The bunk house is a world unto itself, with a new queen bed, full bed, and a bunk bed suitable for kids (the bunk house also has fans, a VCR/DVD player & TV). A great place for kids, a couple or 2nd family. Plenty of dresser space in each sleeping area. A portable playpen/sleep bed suitable for a toddler is also available.

Our kitchen is fully equipped with just about everything you would want: 2 coffee makers (one for decaf and one for regular!), waffle maker, food processor, pizza stones, commercial grade blender (for the daiquiris, of course), new microwave oven, new gas stove, dishwasher, top mount fridge, 2 toasters, Fiesta ware dishes, power juicer, ice cream making ball (bring your own rock salt!), all kinds of spices, panini maker, corkscrew (in case you forget), electric frying pan, ice bucket, additional apartment sized fridge in the pantry and an additional dorm sized fridge on the porch. Herb garden out back. All water is from a drilled well and is excellent. Washer and dryer. Plenty of line space to dry wet suits and towels. Sauna. 200+ videos and DVDs (both for adults and kids). Board games, cards, toys. Fireplace for a cozy evening, monitor heater for a cool morning. Pub style dining room table (set higher up to see the lake) seats 10. Ceiling fans in kitchen & dining room.

A Year Round Get Away Although primarily a summer rental, 'The North Shore' is fully insulated and is available throughout the year. The bass fishing on Trout Lake is excellent, season opens the third Saturday in June. Also, being a short drive to the high peaks of the Adirondacks we afford a wonderful laid back and relaxed alternative for leaf peepers to get away in the evenings from the hustle and bustle of Lake Placid and Saranac Lake. 'The North Shore' is available for St. Lawrence University commencement (3 night rental), Family & Reunion Weekends (2 or 3 night rental) or anytime you come to visit your son or daughter at any of the area's colleges. Winter is perhaps our best kept secret: snow shoe, back-country XC ski or fish the lake and come on in for a sauna and an evening around the fire. Snowmobile trails are located nearby. In the winter bed space is limited to 6 (or 7). Long term rentals and romantic weekends are also possible, and we'll try to work with anyone's schedule or needs.

Fishing Trout Lake is stocked with Rainbow Trout and Lake Trout, and has an abundance of native Smallmouth Bass (biggest personally caught by owner, and released, in 2009 was 21.5 inches 4.85 lbs). Other species include: Largemouth Bass (population is growing, biggest seen is 27 inches), Perch, Bullhead, tons of Rock Bass and Sun Fish for the kids to catch. Rumor also has it that Walleye, stocked some years ago by the NYS DEC, are caught upon occasion. Rainbow Trout are plentiful and fairly easily caught from mid to late spring. As for Lake Trout, there are some real monsters if they are your thing. NYS regulations allow fishing for Rainbows and Lakers on Trout Lake beyond the usual 10/15 cut-off. NYS now allows fishing for bass (catch and release, artificial lures only) prior to the 3rd Saturday in June. Owner will show you the spots and the most effective lures and rigging; and take you out if desired/possible. Or, reasonably priced guide service is available on the lake.

Boating All forms of boating and jet skis are allowed on Trout Lake. The numerous Island provide quieter waters away from the main body of the lake making it excellent for canoes and kayaks. Trout Lake is also excellent for sailing.
