Somesville is centrally located on Mount Desert Island with neighboring towns being an equal distance away - about 10-15 minutes from Ripples Cottage. Acadia National Park encompasses much of the Island and is the home to vacationers from all over the world. Ripples Cottage is close to Acadia's network of carriage roads and nearby lakes and ocean. One can walk from Ripples Cottage to Long Pond, which offers swimming, fishing, canoe & kayak rentals. If a hike is in the daily agenda Beech Mtn. is just 2 miles from the cottage. The Island Explorer free bus system can be picked up just 1 1/2 miles away. This pristine location is perfect for those who are looking for a quiet area that is centrally located to beaches, mountains, restaurants, museums and theaters.

  • Long term stay discounts. Please inquire. Rates subject to change.
    Rental periods are from Saturday to Saturday. Check-in is at 3 pm and check out is at 10 am.
  • A 50% rental deposit (non-refundable) is required at the time of booking to complete a reservation. Confirmation will be sent by email after receiving payment. The balance of the rent plus a $350 security deposit, 7% State of Maine Sales Tax and signed lease are due 2 weeks prior to occupancy date. Payment may be via personal check or money order. We are in the process of being set up to accept credit cards. The security deposit will be refunded upon receipt of the key, inspection of the house and furnishings following departure.

  • Bedroom 1 is a large studio with private entrance. It is spacious, measuring 20' x 24' with a king size bed and full bath. Views to the garden from this room. Bedroom 2 holds a queen size bed and has four windows overlooking the garden. Bedroom 3 is ideal for children or friends with two twin beds and cozy cottage feel. Closets are available for luggage storage. The great room includes the kitchen/dining area and living space. The futon can be used for additional sleeping space. The house is one level, making it easy access for all. Newly refurbished, brand new beds, furniture, and linens are available for 2008.
