Close by is the village of Playas del Coco which has a variety of shops, restaurants, internet cafes, banks, a supermarket and a post office. Day trips from Ocotal include the Volcano 'Rincon de la Vieja' - where you can hike or horseback ride up the volcano or have an adventure day: horseback riding to the river, white water tubing down the river, a canopy ride, Tarzan swing and Via Ferrata rock climb, followed by a mud bath and soak in the hot springs. Also close by is Santa Rosa National Park, Llanos de Cortez Waterfall, Palo Verde (a Birders Paradise) and Arenal Volcano, as well as a series of beaches such as Playas Hermosa, Panama, Conchal and Tamarindo. The House or the Extension? The house is a wonderful place to spend a few days, but if you would prefer something smaller, or less costly, then the small extension could be for you. It has its own separate entrance and three bedrooms. The 'Toucan' and the 'Mariposa' rooms have queen-sized beds, private bathrooms, central fan, a/c and cable tv. Each has its own private deck and lovely ocean views. The third room 'Colibri' is a larger room with a queen size futon and is equipped with a small kitchenette (refrigerator, microwave, stove-top) and breakfast bar. It has all the same amenities as the other two rooms and a slightly larger deck. As a guest in the extension, you have full access to the swimming pool, where beach towels , loungers and a shower are provided. The rooms can be rented separately or in any combination (i.e. Colibri as the living room/kitchen, combined with one of the bedrooms). Please email for availability.
