New Hartford is a very charming town in the Litchfield Hills that is located just under 2 hours by car from New York City and offers a myriad of activities, including hot air ballooning, fly fishing, canoeing, kayaking, river tubing, horseback riding, hiking, water and snow skiing, hunting, boating, antiquing, golfing, wine tasting, apple/blueberry picking, farm visiting, and fall foliage viewing. There are art and music festivals and exhibits and many fine dining establishments to enjoy. If your stay is a little longer you can take advantage of cooking, art, and photography workshops. MetroNorth Waterbury is 25 minutes away, Bradley Intl Airport is 25 minutes away, and every type of shopping from groceries to electronics is within 5 miles from the house. American History buffs are impressed by numerous historic landmarks and site in the area. Most religions are served by Churches and Synagogues in the area. Architecture includes antique homes and churches that are centuries old.

The Grounds The property has two circular driveways - with parking for more than 10 cars. The property is surrounded by stone walls and has open spaces as well as trails that track through the forest. The entire property is secluded and private and has the feeling of a country camp. The property borders a 4-season stream that is on 118 acres of state owned land. This is truly bucolic and a special place to rejuvenate the mind, body, and soul.

Other Activities Connecticut's popular Lake Compounce is a theme/water park combo that offers several roller coasters, several water slides, and numerous other rides and attractions - just 19 miles away. Enjoy evening music in the park at West Hill Lake (1.5 miles) or at the Yale summer music conservatory camp (15 miles away).

Medical Care A large, sophisticated hospital is well equipped to handle most any emergency and is only 8 miles away. We know from experience!

Skiing Information: Ski Sundown is 15 minutes away from the house. Mohawk Mountain, Mount Southington and Woodbury Ski Area are all approximately 45 minutes away.

Golf Information: You can shoot 9 holes (par 36) at The Eastwood Country Club - only 5 miles from the house. Or, you can play one of several 18 hole courses that are located within 20 minutes.
