This historic old home is located right on the Hudson Harbor with a Spectacular unobstructed view of New York City, the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge. It has new large air conditioners and is in one of NY City's SAFEST neighborhoods. Park free 24 hours or go car-less. Within short walking distance is the 24/7 ferry which in 30 minutes docks at lower Manhattan and the hub of subway, bus or ferry transportation to all the attractions of New York City and the Metro area. Coming back to your Comfortable 2 bedroom home filled with antiques after a day of sightseeing or shopping, first have a quiet walk along the Waterfront in the scenic Esplanade Park. You will be in the Historic neighborhood of St. George where there are Restaurants, the Staten Island Museum and old homes and churches. A short bus ride brings the visitor to the wonderfully restored Sailors Snug Harbor. It is now a cultural center with museums, art galleries, acres of gardens and grand old buildings to explore.

Historic St. George is where all transportation begins, with free ferry rides to lower Manhattan. Located right on the Hudson Harbor with unobstructed views of the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge and the New York City skyline. Museums, parks, shops, restaurants and a minor league ball park are all within walking distance. Take a 2 mile city bus ride to the cultural center of Snug Harbor, built in 1857. There are many wonderful things to see there; acres of beautiful landscaping, historic buildings, restaurants, the Children's Museum, the botanical and Chinese gardens.

Guests may leave their car and walk to the ferry terminal that will take them right to the financial district of Lower Manhattan with the Statue of Liberty ticket booth, Wall Street and the avenues of historic old New York. For most attractions on Staten Island there is public transportation and it is just a short walk to restaurants, SI Museum, small food markets and drug stores. |

Transportation The house is only about 40 minutes from La Gurdia and JFK International Airport and 30 minutes form Newark Airport. There is public transportation by bus and then subways to and from the airports.There are also local city buses that stop a half block away from the house. The Staten Island Ferry, which is a free 30 minute ride to Lower New York City and runs all night, 24/7 is only a three block walk or short bus ride from the house. There is free all day/night parking in front of the house! In Lower NYC there are sightseeing buses, city buses and subways to anywhere in all of the five boroughs. There is also the connection to the Statue of Liberty ferry very near to where the Staten Island ferry docks.
Interior Furnishings The owner of the house is a professional Interior Designer and has taken great effort to make the furniture and surroundings attractive and pleasing. The rooms feature high ceilings, wood floors and an arch between the living room and dining room. In the living room there is a open wood burning stove in the fireplace, so that in the cooler months the guests can have a cozy fire to gaze at. All the furniture is period or antique except the new queen bed and the sleeper sofa. The kitchen has been remodeled with wood cabinets, a fresh counter top for the work area, new appliances and a dishwasher.
The Summer Season Summer 2008 is filling up fast with families wanting to stay in a safe neighborhood away from the crowds and noise of Manhattan. The Harbor House is a detached two family home where guests have the privacy and comfort of their own home. An easy walk to the ferry and you are in NYC for a day of shopping/sightseeing/ theater-going or just relaxing in town. There is air-conditioning to keep you cool when the harbor breezes are not enough and ceiling fans for circulation.
