One of the few remaining historic Villages of London, Highgate has thrived since the 16th Century. It was the location of one of the original 'Gates of London' - taxed points of entry to the growing metropolis. As a result, this unique and historic area of the city retains many of its original pubs and inns. Highgate’s renowned cemetery is the resting place for Charles Dickens, TS Eliot, Coleridge and Karl Marx among many other significant historical figures. Kenwood, one of London’s most beautiful parks, is close by and boasts the stunning stately Kenwood House as its centrepiece and is home to one of London’s finest art collections. Hampstead Heath, another beautiful London park, is just a short stroll from the property. Appropriately for such a historic part of London, the Cottage was built in 1721. Indeed the original owner built the property for the use of visitors to the City of London. So, it really was purpose built for you the vacation renter - 300 years ago!
