This first floor of a 2 family building is charming and comfortable, not luxurious. The beach is very natural and uncrowded (25 people far as the eye could see this Memorial day). The accommodations are much like those I remember as a child more than 30 years ago. The bathroom has a new stall shower; a half bath adds convenience. The kitchen works well, and has two refrigerators, but has that rubbed off at the edges quality. A clothesline for that fresh air smell compliments the washing machine. Tennis court and a modest children's playground are close. The water is shallow, though swimmable, with very gentle surf. After storms there is lots of fine sea weed. Children love to play tag with the small waves. This is a lovely place to forget the modern world. There is a local land line phone and OK cell reception. NO DSL etc. Bring your own towels, sheets and pillow cases, and remember, the real grocery stores and restaurants are about 25 minutes.

Further Details for the house in Delaware, USA

The Beach Slaughter beach is a quiet town of less than 200 homes. A volunteer fire department and a MiniMart/Bait and Tackle shop are the only businesses. The beach itself is sandy with some pebbles in parts, depending upon the tides. Also to be found on the beach are shells, horseshoe crab shells, washed up reeds, and other natural materials. The beach is not raked or processed like resort beaches, but is very natural. The surf is generally gentle. As with all outdoor places, at some times of the year there will be wildlife. Horse shoe crabs mate there in the spring. When the breeze is absent and their has been rain, bugs may be present in the evenings.

The House The house is well maintained, but basic. Since the decor is attractive, but not fancy, well behaved children and pets are welcome. This is a place to relax and enjoy yourself, not a place to worry about the sand tracked in from the beach. A pair of Adirondak chairs, a hammock, and pic-nic table on the beach provide an outdoor suit!
