San Salvador house Rental Property Information

“The Blue House” is the ultimate vacation home located on the beautiful island of San Salvador, Bahamas. Steps from the beach and centrally located on an island that is packed with history, adventure and fun! The Blue House is spacious and comfortable. Its large open living room with vaulted ceiling and three sliding glass doors opening to its huge deck overlooking the beach and its clear azure waters provides the most spectacular views and sunsets. The deck has a large picnic table and a gas barbecue to enjoy many meals outdoors. Two hammocks and many lounge chairs are also awaiting you to while away the hours. The master bedroom overlooks the ocean with sliding glass doors opening to the deck. Off the Master bedroom there is a full bathroom and a second bedroom . On the second floor there are two more bedrooms, two bathrooms and an open loft. The kitchen is very spacious and bright and has most of things we have at home. As you step into this house you will know what paradise means!

'The Blue House' is located in the neighborhood of Victoria Hill a mile from the airport and Club Med and about 1.5 miles to Cockburn Town where you can find grocery stores, a Cyber cafe, a drugstore, the San Salvador Museum, the straw market under the large almond tree and giant Iguana sculpture. Less than a mile away is a health care center and a small shopping center with a restaurant, health food store, souvenir shop and others. The bank is located about a mile away. To the north of the house, there is Graham's harbor, with a playground area and picnic tables by the ocean. Continuing north, going around east on the tip of the island you will find 'United States', another settlement where Dixon Hill Lighthouse is located.

Golf Cart - its full electrical charge will allow you to operate the cart continuously for about one hour or so, in other words if you drive somewhere 30 minutes away continuously, leave the other 30 minutes of power to be able to come back home and recharge. Always plug the charger when you are at home and definitely during the night. The charge is good enough for all close by beaches and also for going to the shopping center or Cockburn town for grocery, bank, post office etc. Club Med allows visitors from outside to enjoy their facilities, you should call to book. There are different rates, a lunch rate, a dinner rate with show and dancing until the wee hours, with full bar included and a day pass, enter at 10 am leave at 6 pm, where you can play tennis or have a sailing class and zillions of other things. Scuba Diving-The Riding Rock Inn has different packages, morning and afternoon dives and multiple day packages. All equipment can be rented.

San Salvador Access Information San Sal, as it is called by locals and regular visitors, has an airport with a large runaway to support landing and taking off of large jet planes. To get to Nassau ( from a US departure point), US Airways has good deals usually, also Jet Blue and Spirit Airlines, American Airlines, United, Delta and Continental sometimes have good offers. From the Northeast of the US , you can find flights as low as $200 plus tax round trip. Bahamas Air has one daily flight leaving Nassau at 11:00 am to San Sal and on Thursdays and Saturdays also at 2:45pm.( round trip ticket $178 for adults , $90 for children) It is a 45 minutes flight. Spirit Air also has a direct flight from Ft. Lauderdale to San Sal on Saturdays.

Getting around San Sal San Sal has several historic sites being the first landfall of Christopher Columbus' fleet. It also has the last of the manually kerosene operated Lighthouses of the Bahamas, a truly special and nostalgic piece of history brought by the British. The views from the top of the lighthouse are not to be missed. There are also caves, ruins from old plantations and cays on the northern tip where the San Salvador Iguanas live, these species are native to the area and can only be found here. Bird life is also abundant with San Sal having many salt water lakes. San Sal is served by Queens Highway which runs its entire circumference, about 60 miles. For that reason, to explore sites like the lighthouse and others, a car or a scooter is recommended ( both can be easily rented) or you can take an island tour with one of the tour guides.

Internet access Available at the house , although service can sometimes be down - and when it is down in the house, it is down in the whole island... it can happen for a couple of hours or for a day!
