Netarts house Rental Property Information
Right across the street from picturesque Netarts Bay is where you’ll find our cabin. There is immediate access to the bay and ocean beaches. The cabin is on an old street that meanders along a bluff just above the mouth of the bay. Our family has owned this very special place since 1992. We are confident that you will love it as much as we do. There is a sleeping loft above a cathedral-ceiling main living area. Upstairs, beyond the loft, is the master bedroom with a wonderful water view. Then, another set of stairs leads up to a Belvedere, a fully-glassed-in area on the 3rd floor. Sitting benches here have panoramic views of the bay and the ocean and can be used as extra sleeping space; you step out of the Belvedere onto a deck with the same spectacular views (sunset photo). Free Wi-Fi, unlimited domestic long-distance, & iPod friendly! One of our favorite things to do is to hike on the beach to Oceanside to have dinner at Rosanna’s Café….come share our enthusiasm!

Coastal Oregon is lovely, welcoming and unspoiled. If you enjoy fabulous scenery, hiking, crabbing & clamming (dungeness crabs and many kinds of clams are plentiful in Netarts Bay), birding or just walking and exploring the beach, this area is for you. There are superb local guides available for fishing and hunting. If you'd like to venture a short distance inland, the wonderful vineyards and wines of Oregon's Willamette valley are not very far and this can make an excellent day trip. During the summer, especially, the coast hosts many art and music festivals. The Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport is an easy and pleasing day trip for the family as well.

Further Details for the house in Oregon, USA
Three Capes Scenic Area Netarts Bay is located at the origin of Cape lookout, one of 3 magnificent Oregon State Parks and one of the well known 'Three Capes' of the Three Capes Scenic Area. Cape Lookout State park - At the south end of Netarts bay, this spectacular cape extends several miles into the Pacific ocean and is ideal for hiking, whale watching (in season), beach-combing and hang-gliding. Cape Kiwanda State Park - a little further to the south is Cape Kiwanda, near Pacific City. This area is famous for its fishing fleet of dories that are launched directly into the surf. Cape Meares State Park - just to the north of Netarts Bay are Tillamook Bay and Cape Mears. Cape Meares is known for its historic lighthouse and the “Octopus Tree” as well as sweeping views of the ocean. 'Between the Capes Trail Guide' (Google it!) is a local resource available on-line and can help you navigate and appreciate your way among the Three Capes. Lost Boy Cave is one spectacular adventure accessible during minus tides.
Fishing & crabbing paradise There's nearly always something in season, from bright fall chinook salmon returning to the coastal rivers, to spring salmon, to steelhead in the winter by driftboat in the coastal rivers, to sturgeon and silver salmon on the Columbia river - we can connect you with great local guides if you want to fish. If you'd like to smoke some of your catch, we are glad to provide detailed instructions and let you use the family's smoker - few things are more healthy or delicious than home-smoked fish! If you want to go after dungeness crab in the bay, or clams (when the tides are right), it is a simple matter to rent a small boat and all the gear you need just down the street at the Marina - they'll even clean and cook the crabs for you if you'd like. Making home-made clam chowder is a treat our family really enjoys. The bay has a variety of clams - all that's needed are the will, a few simple tools (which are at the cabin) and a minus tide - consult the tide tables before booking.
Fall and winter Fall and winter are often overlooked at the Oregon Coast. The weather turns colder and rainier, but this signals the change of season and the return of the salmon to the rivers from the ocean. When our family lived in Portland, we used to love to visit the cabin for thanksgiving and the winter holidays at the beach. It gets quiet with respect to people, but if you really enjoy seeing (or surfing) large waves, and watching storms either from the beach or from right in front of a roaring wood stove, winter at the coast can be a special time for you and your friends and family. The steelhead are usually running in the coastal rivers and the storms wash all sorts of treasures up onto the sand for beachcombers...
Skiing Information: Although the Oregon coast is not a skiing destination (no snow), those interested in skiing should note that Mount Hood is nearby, just 60 miles east of Portland and there is skiing nearly year-round up at Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood (google it!). A guest interested in skiing should consider making a trip to Timberline Lodge and staying in the mountains a few days for skiing before coming to the coast. This would allow a splendid getaway showing you some of the wonderful and varied aspects of Oregon. Central Oregon is also a terrific skiing destination - the season is shorter compared with Timberline but it is a real destination for many who like first class skiing (Mount Bachelor for example).
Golf Information: The Oregon coast is not a 'golf destination' usually. However, there are courses available and resorts are being built all along the coast to Lincoln Ciity (a bit more 'built-up' than Netarts Bay). Also, the potential visitor interested in golf should note that Central Oregon (the Bend-Redmond area) is indeed a golfer's paradise. As with skiing (above) a trip could be planned to include a stop in Central Oregon for golfing followed by a trip to the coast. Interestingly, Central Oregon's climate is entirely different from the Willamette Valley (Portland, Salem, Eugene areas) or the Coast. Central Oregon is high desert with sagebrush and is sunny about 350 days a year! There wonderful rivers, mountains rising out of the desert, and old western towns to visit in addition to some of the best golf and skiing around.
