Brother Cabin Brother Cabin is on heavily forested property adjacent to Calavaras Big Trees State Park: walking distance from the giant redwoods, the Stanislaus River, and a maze of hiking trails. It is also 15 minutes from excellent shopping and dining in Murphys (the Queen of the Mother Lode), 30 minutes from Gold Country antiquing and 30 minutes from the Bear Valley Ski resort. The land from Brother Cabin to the Nevada side of the Sierra Nevada summit is dedicated to outdoor use (state park and national forest) and still carries the 'magic' of undeveloped mountain areas. In the warm months, there are unlimited opportunities for hiking, rafting and kayaking. Winter is the time for cross country and down hill skiing, snow shoeing, and sledding.

The cabin is very comfortable and tastefully decorated. There are two master bedrooms downstairs and two bedrooms plus a loft and full bath upstairs. It is an ideal arrangement for two families or four couples. The kitchen is well-equipped for gourmet cooking and the grocery store in Arnold (10 minutes away) is excellent. There are also several great restaurants within a five to ten minute drive.

Fun ranger programs for children at adjacent Big Trees State Park. For adults, there are tours and tastings at numerous local wineries.
