Crested Butte house Rental Property Information

Comfort and location -- Our roomy log home on Sopris Avenue was built in the 1970s and later remodeled and expanded. In the heart of historic Crested Butte, it provides a perfect place for one or more families any time of year. We furnished it for our own comfort and relaxation, including new beds in 2007, knowing it should please our guests, too. With two dining areas and two separate living areas, the house has plenty of room to spread out and feel at home. You can relax by the wood stove or in the new (2007) hot tub in the Colorado winter. Or when the weather is mild, lounge outside on one of the two sunny back decks (upper and lower) or on the front porch swing. Great in any season. The house is near Coal Creek and only a block from Elk Avenue (our main street), so it's literally just a short walk to most of Crested Butte's wonderful restaurants -- and lots of shopping. It's also just a block to the free shuttle bus that runs every 15 minutes to and from the ski area.

The Crested Butte area is the best of Colorado -- summer or winter. Great skiing. Great Hiking. Great eating and shopping. The Wildflower Capital of Colorado. And the birthplace of the 'mountain bike.' Crested Butte has a relaxed, friendly atmosphere that makes you feel at home on your first visit -- or after many years of repeated visits. Are there people who come to Crested Butte only once? Yes. But it's because they never leave. And the best part of the area is the heart of the old town: 'Historic Crested Butte,' a few blocks clustered around the main street at the west end of town were settled in the late 1800s by wonderful, hearty people. The big industry in those days was coal mining, not gold or silver mining. That down-to-earth beginning still infuses the town with character today. Crested Butte is exploding in popularity in recent years, but it's maintaining its unique heritage. It's like no other place in Colorado -- or anywhere else for that matter.

Ski / storage room in entry Skiers and hikers will find the front entry ski / storage room to be a convenient place to stow skis, boots, and equipment. It's fully heated in winter and has shelves for boots, hangers for skis, and plenty of room to store backpacks and hang coats and jackets.

Other good stuff In addition to high-speed internet, there's a fax machine and printer available for your use; an upright piano to plunk away on; a star-gazing telescope for clear Colorado nights; and interior furnishings that include some sturdy 'period' pieces from the late 1800s when Crested Butte was established.

Skiing Information: This base area is a 10-12 minute ride away on the free Shuttle Bus that arrives and departs every 15 minutes just 1/2 block form the house. It's very convenient and dependable.

Golf Information: There's a beautiful golf course on the edge of town: The Club at Crested Butte. This Robert Trent Jones II Championship Golf Course was proclaimed by Mountain Golf Magazine to be '... one of the finest golf courses in the mountains, if not the entire country.'
