If you are looking for a private hideaway, you will find it at Desertview in the Joshua Tree Highlands of Southern California. You are 45 minutes drive from Palm Springs airport, but easy travel from Ontario airport, Los Angeles, or San Diego metro areas. Entrance to Joshua Tree National Park is just two miles away from Desertview. Our location is known for premier hiking and rock climbing. After a fun filled day, your accommodations feature a natural setting with cozy quilts and California artwork to complement your experience. Bird watching at feeders is a daily activity. We provide the first bag of seeds so you are guaranteed of a good show both morning and evening. Cocktail hour is enjoyed from the patio outside. You can relax in our new hammock with a view or climb the rockscape in the yard. At sunset you will experience a light show that fades to twinkling village lights and the surrounding hills. Local eateries are 10 minutes away or you can use our full service kitchen.

The junction of Interstate 10 and Highway 62 north near Palm Springs brings you to the Mojave desert where you will find Morongo Valley, Pioneer Town, Yucca Valley, Joshua Tree, 29 Palms, the Marine Base and Joshua Tree National Park. Joshua Tree hosts art and music festivals through out the year. Quail Springs Road takes you up the hill to the 'Highlands' and the west entrance of the national park. You can mountain bike through the park on back roads to 29 Palms. Stop by the visitor center, see the exhibits and ask for the park map and seasonal information guide. Rangers host walks and interpretive programs on a variety of subjects including, birds, wildflowers, desert tortoise endangered species, trails, star gazing, earthquake faults, early history and native tribes. Tours are available to the historic Desert Queen Ranch. Check your seasonal guide for scheduled dates and time. Visitors will enjoy stargazing on clear nights and there are spectacular meteor showers in August.

You can book an early T-time and enjoy your morning on the course. Your return to Desert View in Joshua Tree brings you all the comforts of home in a mountain view setting. STAR PARTIES in Joshua Tree National Park 2008 Schedule...The Andromeda Astronomical Society hosts a program each month on a Saturday close to the new moon. Join local experts who set up telescopes for a public viewing just after dark. Meet at the parking lot on the right fork of the road in the picnic area of Hidden Valley (see NPS map) Don't be late!...the party lasts for 1 1/2 hrs. Join the group on July 5 at 8:20 PM, Aug 2 at 8:00 PM, Sep 27 at 7:00 PM, Oct 25 at 6:20 PM, Nov 29 at 5:00 PM.
Other Activities Pioneer Town built in 1940 is home of Old West movie set. Mock gun fights are staged on the street April-October.
