- Our high season week begins on Monday with check in at 5 PM. Departure the following Sunday with check out at 5 PM. Please schedule your stay accordingly! This gives our guests time to pack and to arrive on a day with much less traffic. It allows ourselves and guests to participate in the wonderful local summer and fall festivals that take place over the weekends in our area. It makes for an unhurried departure. It's a much more sane alternative to the usual Saturday turnover that cuts into 2 weekends and puts you on the road during peak travel times. We cannot accommodate week long stays that flow into the second week. A 5 day stay must fall between Monday and Sunday, also. Thank you!

Further Details for the cottage in Downeast and Acadia, Maine, USA
Smoking,Pets & Children: Policies. Smoking allowed outdoors. Sorry--no pets allowed, no exceptions. Our cottages were built with allergy sensitive people in mind. We've decided to give priority to these people versus pets and pet owners. We hope you understand. A stay at Light Heart Retreat is well worth the cost of you seeing to your pet's care while you're here. The Huckleberry Hideaway and Blackberry Cottage are located in an adult only section of Light Heart Retreat. Children are happily welcomed to the Quarry House, our family cottage. See the links to the Quarry House & our website for a great overview, a quicktime movie and more information on our policies.
Not your usual Maine Cottage Rental! Guests voice that they've never been anywhere, as beautiful, peaceful, with as wonderful an 'energy' as they experience as guests at Light Heart Retreat. Our cottages are finished, complete homes-not our personal summer home. We are present on the retreat, available to assist you. We keep the wood supplied for saunas and your own personal campfire pit. If you don't need us, we're all but invisible, except as caretakers of the gardens. We are sticklers about providing a clean space and strip beds down to the mattresses each time. We use natural cleaning products. Our soaps, candles and aromatherapy products come from Sweet Grass Farms. We keep our spaces as allergen free as possible--no glade plug ins and NO MICROWAVES-very bad for your food! Many guests have found inspiration in our holistic library. Joanna is available by appointment for holistic healing sessions. Self Health talks and Reiki trainings are held on Wednesday nights during July & Aug. See the Blackberry Cottage link.
Weddings & Gatherings. Light Heart Retreat is a beautiful, magical place to host a small wedding. The standing stone circle with view to Taunton Bay makes for a really unique, memorable setting! The large lawn and gardens on the north side of the quarry can hold a 40x40 tent with room to spare. LHR can accommodate events with guests up to 50. It's necessary to reserve each cottage for one week for an event during the summer season. There's an additional grounds and service charge for weddings. Email for more information. Keep LHR in mind for family reunions, also.
