Monmouth cottage Rental Property Information

Situated in the Tacoma Lakes region, this property is on Sand Pond. Besides the fully-furnished, eat-in kitchen, living room with TV & DVD/VCR/CD player and game room with foosball, the signature feature of this property is the large, open deck overlooking the pristine lake. Enjoy the porch swing or outdoor barbecue, while you watch boaters ply the crystal clear water. Or, walk down the lawn to the water's edge, enjoy the 100' of private waterfront and take a canoe (provided) ride around the lake. You can also bring your boat and keep it at our dock -water's at least 3.5 feet deep at the dock. Fishin's great, too! The cottage is completely furnished with all utensils, linens and appliances (including washer & dryer) for a hassle-free visit. There is even an outdoor kennel for those guests choosing to bring their dog (extra fee applies). Note: there is a wooded island approx 150 ft. across the water which limits the lake view directly in front of the property

The Tacoma Lakes region is centrally located - an hour's drive will take you to Boothbay Harbour, Freeport (L.L. Bean's), Portland, Augusta, Lewiston/Auburn - to name a few locations. There is a small country store, ATM, country cafe, and gas within two miles of the lake. A full grocery store and WalMart are approx. 40 minutes away. The Theater at Monmouth provides a delightful Shakespearean theater experience - just 15 minutes from the cottage. CAUTION: If you're looking for fast-paced nightlife or commercial ammusement parks close by, this area is NOT for you. However, if you're looking for a chance to rest & relax, without being completely removed from civilization, this might be just the place for you.

Payment is usually accepted in the quoted currency unless the currency and the amount is specifically agreed in advance with the owner / advertiser.

  • $50 non-refundable cleaning fee per stay. $20/week optional garbage fee for multi-weeks. $50/pet.
  • Once the dates are confirmed with the owner, payment of 50% of your rental fee will confirm your rental. The balance, along with a $100 refundable security deposit plus the cleaning and garbage fees, plus all applicable taxes, is due 4 weeks prior to your arrival date. These payments may be made by personal check, money order or PayPal. The security deposit will be refunded within two weeks after the end of the rental, as long as the property is left in the same or better condition as found. The paid rental fee, less a 10% cancellation charge, will be refunded if the reservation is canceled more than four weeks prior to the start of the reserved period. Cancellations received less than four weeks prior to the start of the reservation period forfeit the entire rental fee deposit, unless another renter can be found.
  • Weeks run from 4pm Friday evening to 11am Friday morning. Maximum occupancy is 6 people.

The appeal of this property is the location and the views. While newly furnished, the building itself is a basic trailer with additional rooms attached, but has been well maintained over the past 30 years. As you will notice, there is a non-refundable cleaning fee to cover the garbage disposal and property cleaning once you leave. All of this cleaning fee goes directly to a local student who does the cleaning to raise money for her hobbies. Multi-week rentals will be charged a $20/week garbage disposal fee for all but the last week. However, daily maid service is not typically available, but might be for an additional fee. Contact us for more information. Small dogs are welcome for an extra fee of $50/week/dog. However we require the dog to be placed in the outdoor kennel when you're away from the cottage. No dogs allowed in the cottage unattended. Also, we ask that you properly dispose of you dog's 'business.'

About Sand Pond One of four, connected lakes that comprise Tacoma Lakes, Sand Pond is approx. one mile long and boasts the clearest visability at 30+feet. The deepest part of the lake is 90 feet, and holds many brown trout. Other parts of the lake are great for large-mouth bass, pikeral and sunnies. The State Game Commission routinely patrols the lake and issues costly citations to those who don't follow the published rules. Personal watercraft (Jet Skis) are allowed, but must be driven with courtesy and respect to the other lakefront residents and boaters. There is a public boat launch on the adjacent lake for your use. (CAUTION: The bridge clearance between the two lakes is approx. 6 feet high - so no tall boats will make it under the bridge).

Shopping Options: Freeport, home of L.L. Bean, is approximately 45 minutes from the cabin, via I-295. The town combines local charm, with multiple high-end outlet stores and L.L. Bean's signature store, which is open 24 hours a day. There are several excellent Antique stores in the region, including several in the villiage of Hallowell, on the outskirts of Augusta.
