Queen and twin bedrooms occupy the lower level , which has a tiled foyer and outer door with ship's porthole. A spiral staircase leads to main floor and full tiled bath with jacuzzi tub. All-electric kitchen includes ceramic stove top, plus Euro-style stainless sink and spray faucet combination. Fully equipped with small electric appliances, lobster crackers and picks, cookware, wine glasses -- and even built-in wine racks. This property works well as a romantic getaway for two, a vacation home shared by three couples, or a family vacation home for up to six children and adults. Suitable for children age six and up, and children are welcome. (Please be aware that the spiral staircase between the main and lower levels occupies an open area that is dangerous for very young children.) Bayside has a central beach area where kids congregate for swimming and fun. One small to medium-sized dog is welcome with a non-refundable $125 pet fee.

Historic Bayside Established as a Wesleyan summer camp meeting community in the 1800s, Bayside's original homes -- tents on wooden platforms -- were subsequently transformed into Victorian gingerbread cottages that now are gaily painted in a variety of hues. The village comes to life during the summer season, with American flags flying, colorful flowers overflowing their planter boxes, cats snoozing in the sun, and neighbors strolling the streets and chatting with neighbors rocking on their porches. In the village center is a marina and beach area where children splash in the bay. Many summer residents are sailors, and their moored boats dot the Bayside shoreline. Kayaks are available for rent close by on Route 1 (Atlantic Highway), and an adjacent golf course welcomes visiting guests.

Nearby Attractions From Bayside, it's just a short drive (7 miles) to Lincolnville Beach, where the ferry leaves for Islesboro. A few miles farther down are the Camden Hills, then the beautiful town and harbor of Camden. The Farnsworth Museum, famous for its Wyeth collection and more, is situated not far beyond Camden in another seaport, Rockland. In the opposite direction, you can head into picturesque Belfast or on up the coast to the spectacular Acadia National Park and the town of Bar Harbor on Mount Desert Island. There you can go sightseeing, whale-watching, island-hopping, and more. En route you'll pass a water park in Ellsworth, mini-golf, and other attractions. Antiques shops, art galleries and restaurants abound throughout the Mid-coast Region.
