Experience life on an island off the coast of Maine . . .beaches and bell buoys . . . swimming and tennis . . . an island without cars or cares. Relax. A unique experience for either a family or couple. Great Diamond Island, in Casco Bay, is a two mile ferry ride from Portland. The Ferry service runs frequently enough to spend the day on the island, and then to be able to leave for a night out of dinner and activities within downtown Portland and still return that night to the island. Explore miles of walking trails through the island’s silent old growth forest and along the water’s edge - you may encounter our elusive moose, a family of wandering deer, herons and osprey, perhaps a few seals. Cars are not allowed on most of the island therefore you have an environment where families, kids play freely all over the island. This is an amazing place to vacation. You will feel miles away, but still close enough to a big city

Great Diamond Island, a 20-minute ride from Portland on a Casco Bay Lines ferry, was once a military installation and is now known for its summer homes, beaches, and the community of fine homes at Diamond Cove. At Diamond's Edge Restaurant you can dine at the water's edge, with beautiful views of Diamond Cove. The island has a general store (207-766-3087) which sells pizza, sandwiches and ice cream, and also has public restrooms. The Casco Bay Lines departure point is located at the corner of Commercial Street and Franklin Arterial, Exit 7 off I-295 in downtown Portland.

Rental Rates for the house in Portland and Casco Bay Area, Maine, USA



Payment is usually accepted in the quoted currency unless the currency and the amount is specifically agreed in advance with the owner / advertiser.

  • May weekly rent is 1,200 a week. June 1,400 a week, July ,1,600 a week, August 1,800 a week.
  • The cottage is available for ether weekly, weekend, or 3 day min rentals for off season only.
    Weekend is check in on Friday at 12:00PM and check out on Sunday at 4:00PM (weekend rate is $400.00)

    Their is a 125.00 cleaning charge.
    Each pet that stays at home is an additional 150.00 a week.

    **Prefer to rent on a Weekly basis **Will discount for longer stays over 2 plus weeks.

    In order to secure the dates I will need the following, an email confirming your dates and intention to rent, a signed agreement within 5 days of the confirmation email date sent to the following below address and 50% of the total amount paid as a deposit fee. The additional 50% of your rental fee must be paid prior to May 1st 2008.
  • Contract Return Due Date: is within 5 days of receiving agreement. Or reservation can be canceled and owner reserves the right to rent to another renter. This contract and cleaning addendum must both be signed and paragraphs initiated where marked and returned with your deposit.
