There's a large deck off the house with patio dining seating. In addition, there's a screened-in pavilion located by the water with a large deck overlooking the deep water cove and the main channel. The dock has plenty of decking for fishing and sun-bathing. A queen-size sofa-bed is located in the family room downstairs. A large floating dock was built in fall 2007. Now you have a stationary and a floating dock to enjoy the lake. Linen rentals available upon request. Sorry, no pets allowed.

Great location at Smith Mountain Lake This spacious home is located in a quiet deep water cove near mile marker R25. There's an award winning vineyard about a mile from the house, offering tours and tastings. Several marinas are nearby for food, tackle, and launching boats. The house is within 5 minute boat ride to Hales Ford Bridge, a center of activity that includes shops, restaurants, miniature golf, ice cream shops, and nightlife. You needn't worry about food essentials; grocery shopping is less than ten minutes away at the intersection of 122 and Hendricks Store Road (655). Thirty minutes down the road is the historic town of Bedford, which was voted one of the best towns of its size in America. While in Bedford, you must visit the National D-Day Memorial. If you want some variety, you can drive, motorcycle, or hike the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains or the Peaks of Otter -- which are just 45 miles away. Once you visit Smith Mountain Lake, you'll want to return again and again.

Both Explore Park (near Roanoke) and Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest residence (near Lynchburg) are less than one hour away. NASCAR's Martinsville race (held twice a year) is also a one-hour drive away. The Booker T. Washington and Jubal Early childhood homes are just a short drive from Smith Mountain Lake. Charlottesville (Monticello and the University of VA) and Blacksburg, VA (Home of Virginia Tech) are just two hours away. Ferrum College, with its summer dinner theatre, is just one hour away. Once you visit the chalet, you'll want to return again and again.
