About The House Split Rock Trail is sited on a 1/2 acre lot on a quiet cul-de-sac a little downhill from Devil's Knob. It adjoins the Shamokin Nature Preserve, featuring a path through the woods leading to Stoney Creek, the Old Appalachain Trail, and the Shamokin Falls Upper Gorge Trail. The grounds surrounding the house are filled with mountain laurel, rhododendron, and many types of ferns and hardwoods. Deer pass through the grounds on their regular rounds. Foliage colors change with the seasons. The house is less than five minutes from the Wintergarden Spa. During ski season, guests may park at the Wintergarden and ride the shuttle to the slopes and the Mountain Inn, thus avoiding the crush of the public parking areas. It is nestled into the side of the mountain so that the main entrance is at the same level as the parking area and the lower level exits at ground level. The house is equipped with central heating and cooling, as well as a house humidifier.

For Additional Information The house has a fully equipped kitchen with microwave, coffee maker, coffee bean grinder, blender, toaster, and crock pot. The house also has DSL high speed internet access, cable television, Play Station 2 with games, DVD and VHS players and movies, books, a dart board, and board games for kids and adults alike. And for those with young children, the house is equipped with a Pack 'N Play, high chair, and umbrella stroller. A washer and dryer are located on the lower level. Linens are provided.

The house is located within the Wintergreen Resort, which was named by readers of the Washington post web site as the best ski resort in the Mid-Atlantic region, has been rated among the top 50 golf resorts in the country, and has been rated by Tennis Resorts Online as the 5th best tennis resort with the 2nd best academy. Tour the close-by vineyards, take long hikes on the miles of trails that are just a few steps away from the house, or relax in the hammock on one of two decks. Activity Passes are furnished to provide access to and discounts on Resort facilities. For those who don't want to leave the mountain during their vacation, the Wintergreen Resort offers several restaurants, a convenience store, and several small shops. For those who want more variety, Wintergreen is approximately 20 minutes from Nellysford, which has a grocery store and additional restaurants and shops.
