Basically you may use the fishing poles to fish. There is usually bait at the Heron Store or in Tierra Amarilla at Henry's Hardware. I have found orange powerbait to be great for trout. Also corn works well. I can also give you the location of a great fishing spot. Children and elderly must be careful on the deck. Although there is a good solid railing there is a 15' drop to the ground. Extreme caution is urged. We do not have a wheelchair ramp to the deck.

Surrounded by natural beauty Cumbres Toltec Railroad nearby in Chama, NM. Tierra Wools nearby in Los Ojos, NM. Fishing nearby on the private side of Heron Lake and Willow Creek. Georgia O'Keefes Abiqui and Ghost Ranch as well as Ojo Caliente Hot Mineral Springs and Spa are about an hour away. Taos, Taos Pueblo and the Taos Gorge Bridge is 1.0 hours to the east, Unwind, decompress, get away from it all except perhaps KTAO's Joseph the Starwatchers' daily horoscope. Great area for families as well as reunions and retreats of any kind.
